Bloody meat eater on BTD

Hi, there everybody.  I know I've been off the board for a while, but I've been out there living my life since I feel SO GOOD now!  It's kinda hard to sit still.

I know I was very wary of this diet at first.  Being an O-, I saw that I was going to have to start eating meat again after being a raw vegan for 7 years.  Unfortunately being raw and vegan was exactly what was making me sick.  Who knew, right?  D'adamo mentions cases in his books where vegetarian Os picked up the flesh foods again and began to heal, so I knew I had to put my desire to be a veg-head aside and try it.

I'll pretty much only eat the local, organically-raised, certified humane (etc...) stuff that I can get at the local co-op or at the natural food distributor where I work.  I eat almost exclusively HBs, very little sugar (agave), and small portions.  I am also a non-secretor.

So I started the diet in October of 2013.  It is now the last day of March in 2014.

I have lost 45 pounds.

I have plenty of excess energy.

I no longer have suicidal thoughts.

I am no longer in pain on a daily basis, and I heal faster than every when I do get injured.

I don't get sick when the other girls in the office do.

And let me tell you about my periods (sorry, gentlemen), which were my biggest health woe:

They used to last 7-8 days.  I bled heavily for the first 4 days, then moderately for the last 3-4.  I would eat ANYTHING in sight, and get very, very angry if I didn't get food when I wanted it.  I was moody and angry for up to a week before it started, and then 3 days into it as well.  The mood swings included panic attacks, sobbing, and suicidal thoughts.  The cramps were debilitating.  Sometimes I would have to stay home from work or school.  Sometimes I would be in so much pain I couldn't move.  I would throw up.  I would get out of the shower dizzy and crying and lay on the floor face-down on my towel until either the cramps stopped or I passed out.

This month: I bled for 4 days.  I craved chocolate 3 out of those 4 days, so I blended almond butter, agave syrup and cacao powder and ate a few teaspoons of it.  Craving gone.  I was moody and angry for about 6 hours on the second day.  I did not get dizzy or throw up.  Cramps occurred for a couple hours the first two mornings and felt just like my uterus was wiggling.  It was not painful.

Now I know a lot of people here are already into the diet, already Swami'ed and don't really need to be convinced anymore.  But I also know that the occasional weary and wary traveler comes in looking to see if this might be for them.  I hope they read this post, even with all the bloody details...  I really will never eat another way again.  This is not my diet.  This is my lifestyle.

I'm going to go dance.

Congratulations HolisticFox!!! Thanks for the inspiring post - and to think, you've only been following your eating plan for less than six months

Been on this way of eating for awhile and never get tired of testimonials!.  It just reinforces what the diet does and keeps us who may have wavered from time to time stay motivated.

Congrats on your great success!!!

This makes me happy.

I’m working on being compliant but am taking a gradual approach.  I do have energy, however so I’m pretty sure it is good for me.

I had what I can only describe as endometriosis, from my late teens until about five years ago when I went totally gluten free. Now, when I get my period, I can't even tell! Runs in my family...most of the women in my family had hysterectomies due to the pain! I wasn't even trying to cure that when i went GF, just trying to resolve my awful GI symptoms!

Congratulations and keep up the good work!
