tried just fish or chicken with veggies, but felt something missing. So, I still like rice around lunch time, it makes a big difference, possibly to do with adding the sweet and moist post-digestive effect(vipak) - this is Ayurvedic philosophy. I also need the grain and nuts to mantain my weight. Made home-made ghee last weekend, much nicer than other ghee.
I with I knew more about bloating too, the last time was when I had a green smoothie in the afternoon (raw spinach and fruit), and before that, after eating salad and raw onions for lunch, so sometimes it is the type of food, or way eaten(ie raw) or fruit in afternoon. Or mixing veg with fruit if one's enzymes are low in the afternoon. It can take time to work out what is going on internally.
I also feel, with myself, it involves the underlying imbalances in the physiology. this also can show in changes to skin, hair, sleep problems, headaches.
