i was searching about seeds :
is it possible to mix them in the same lunch (such as pumpkin seeds and flaxseed)?
or/and in the same day?
how much seeds a day?
is it better to eat them at breakfast-lunch-dinner?

then, i found a thread, i quote

So you might want to think about whether you would put pecans or walnuts on your salad. Some people do. Others that follow various food combining rules choose not to.

How are you putting flax on your salad?

If you are sprinkling a few whole seeds on the top, they are not go to do you any harm. But they are not go to do you much good either, since if you do not crush and grind each seed with your teeth they are most likely going to pass through your digestive track undigested.

If you are using a little flax meal in some sort of salad it is probably fine, and unless you used a lot of it, I would not worry about what category it was in.

If you are using Flax oil, it is probably as good as any other oil you could put on the salad. I use no oil.[/quote]

i would appreciate if you suggest me what to use instead of oil
extra virgin olive oil give me a feeling of ..i don't know..such a kind of irritation on the throat as if it contains pepper....of course it doesn't it's ONLY oil, so i use lemon.
thank you for every suggestion on the subject

I mix nuts and seeds all the time when I bake muffins.  But for flax seeds, I rarely eat them whole.  I like to grind them into flax meal or buy flax meal which is already ground.  And then put the very
well wrapped bag in my freezer because the oils in ground flax go rancid quickly when exposed to air.
I add nuts and seeds to salads all the time.

The thing about whole flax seeds is this. Although they're good as a lubricating food in your intestines because (you can experiment to see this effect), when you add water to flax seeds, you
wind up with a glue-y liquid as the outer shell softens....and you could drink that liquid and the
whole seeds if you like which might help lubricate your intestines with the mucilage but it's
not getting to the oil which you mentioned as you're not breaking open that shell of the seed........which is why I like ground flax seeds and you might want to check the
recipe file on this website and see the flax bread recipe.  Uses ground flax. Versatile recipe...
you can make it savory or sweet.

So for flax oil, I add it to my membrane cocktail....or just put it in juice or take it off a spoon.  I
don't like heating it and don't like the taste of it in salad dressings.....unless it's recently cold pressed and super fresh which is rather difficult to find.

The portions for nuts and seeds would either be on an individual SWAMI, in the BTD book or the GTD book.
I would think a reasonable portion for nuts and seeds is about 1/4 cup...and depending on your general
health issues/weight loss goals and other fats that you're consuming, if plant foods are replacing animal
foods in meals, eating more nuts can be a healthy option for most people.  I often have a big salad with
nuts and seeds on top....and a bowl of bean soup for lunch.  No animal protein...I count the nuts as my
plant protein.  If I were having nuts as a condiment on a salad, I might use less if my protein meal was something like fish or poultry.  I really just follow my SWAMI's portions.  I can have 1/2 cup of nuts or seeds
per day.

Or add cocoa powder and make it like a chocolate brownie.  I've been doing it this way lately and it's great!
