Hi everyone - my husband (bloody type A, not sure of secretor status) has suspected food poisoning (possibly from left over chicken he ate the next day) but really it could be something else. He's had blood tests and having an abdominal scan on Monday.

He started with severe abdomoinal pain/cramping nearly 5days ago now, then vomitting started, we even called the ambulance out the following night. They ruled out anything immediate and we got a dr to come out that night. He injected buscopan and moxalon which helped a little. Diarheaa started a few days after and even today he still has really bad cramping if he doesn't take medication (buscopan/pramin).

He's not eating much - taking Polyflora A, drinking water and gastrolyte, I gave him some proberry syrup today (should I give him ARA6?) and he is eating rice, white bread/toasted, ricepuffs, I've told him to lay off milk (he follows the diet a tiny bit, we're getting there slowly with him) - what else can he eat to help? I read lemon water sips, and ACV straight.

Still think it might be something else, he's been super stressed. He is a bricklayer so super physical job, normally super healthy and its terrible seeing him so weak and ill  

Anyone else had these symptoms and for so long? We've never had food poisoning or gastro before in our house!

Yess that's it.


Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

I wouldn't give ACV to anyone with blood type A.  And probably best to be drinking plain water until you've got some idea what you're treating.

My son's business partner in FL overlooked what he thought was severe food poisoning...had a ruptured appendix and spent 3 days in intensive care....nearly died. *he's fine now...after10 days in the hospital.

Don't take this lightly....go to the ER.

I've had food poisoning.  It didn't last more than about 18 hours, all of which time was spent in the bathroom.  You are left feeling very weak for a day but your intestines are cleaned out - from both ends!  


6 years on ER BTD, went from sick and dying to healthier And 30 pounds slimmer.  

Dec 2013: Started Swami Xpress - I'm 48% Explorer with hybridized Explorer/BTD list. A new adventure for this old lady!  -- LOST 5 more pounds on SWAMI!

I agree....Most food poisoning usually resolves pretty quickly.  Although my oldest son and his roommate in college both wound up in the hospital for many days after being horribly sick with a campylobacter infection after eating in a Chinese restaurant.  Obviously the cooked chicken sat on a surface where raw chicken sat.  Campylobacter can last up to a week. I always ask people who
have what appears to be food poisoning if they recently ate chicken...Symptoms can start 2-4
days after ingestion.

He did eat chicken, leftover from dinner, but he ate it that day, so it was a number of hours before his symptoms started. It was 43degrees that day (centigrade) so perhaps it wasn't chilled enough??

No, gallbladder pain wasn't present - this was what the paramedic was sussing out, I can tell by what he was asking about hte pain.

We called the ambulance and they checked him out, didn't take him in  but said get Dr, which we did etc etc.

He's stopped taking the pramin and buscopan, didn't take it at all yesterday and is heaps better today. Lost 6kg in total over the week!

Absominal scan on monday and all test results tues night so lets hope we find something out!  Thanks everyone

2. Mild acute attacks are signified by the following

accompanied by loss of appetite and possibly nausea.

my nephew needed to go to emergency room twice to find out that the first diagnosis was not enough.. go again when the need is there.. they are only as good as what we tell them.

How did you get on Pixiecat?  What about campylobacter?  It can lurk around for a while before it starts showing symptoms.
