Are they still OK?  Anybody else in the colder climate order these things and then eat them after being frozen from shipping?

I only ask because I know some foods just aren't right after being frozen.  And then I'm a little anal about what I eat.  So....

I'm nervous about letting them thaw and then eating.  Won't they sweat?

I can't see how they would be any different after being frozen. I think the heat would be n=more of a worry.

If you want to be very anal then only eat then as soon as they are thawed.

they are truly gorgeous anyway you eat them.

I might even try freezing one to see if it tastes better.

I'm sure they are fine.  If there would be a problem, Dr. D. wouldn't ship them in cold weather...  The last thing they want is to get a bunch of bad product returned...

As long as the bars are still wrapped, any sweating will be on the outside of the wrapper, so it should not affect the product inside the package at all...

I think it was on Facebook that Lola suggested someone freeze their bar on purpose because they were good that way.

Frozen UniBars sound delightful. Just watch your teeth.
If you don't want them, I'm fairly nearby over the border from you!

I'm pretty sure no ingredient in the Unibars could be drastically altered in any negative way by freezing and defrosting them. Or even from being too warm.. This item doesn't require refrigeration so I'm quite sure nothing can be altered to the point of danger, inside the package.  I've eaten a bar that was sitting in my car which got almost melted down from the heat....soft and pliable,I brought it inside, put it in the refrigerator and when it was solid again, I ate it.  Here I am....alive to share my story!

Be brave....eat your Unibars!

The texture might (or might not) change after being frozen and thawed, but it wouldn't be harmful in any way.

A bit off topic, but where on the site can I shop for these bars?  The Swami didn’t say a thing about them.

this is blueberry....comes also in chocolate cherry.

Anyone can eat these....good for snacks.  Could become a (small)  meal replacement if necessary.

Thanks Chloe, the ingredients look great.  I put in an order for a box of the blueberry (+ chocolate + tea for AB) .

I probably WILL freeze them because I am on calorie restriction and won't go through them so fast.

Just send them to me, JJR.  I'll personally test each one of them.

Seriously though, I'm sure they're fine. Even if a little moisture is separated out, they wouldn't be more susceptible to any sort of contamination.

I'm with Jane! I just had a choc cherry one yesterday while out shopping. I keep one in my car, one in the refrigerator for a chewier snack and the rest in the box on my pantry shelf.

My son the A+ Non-secretor Explorer SuperTaster thought they tasted bitter.

Personally, I can take-or-leave both kinds of UniBars.  They tend to give me a stomach ache.

Cherry is my favorite. They don't bother my stomach at all. I'm like Cajun, I keep them everywhere! But I'm careful not to overdo eating them. I cut them up in about eight slices for that reason.

I like both the flavors, but tend to only buy them when going on a 2-3 week canoe trip in the fall.  Still got a few left over from last September that I carry around in my bag in case I end up in a situation where I can't get home for a proper meal.  Does the trick to tide me over so I don't end up over eating or eating the wrong thing cause I left it too long.

Spring, good idea to slice and separate!

BC gal, I agree. I need all the help I can get to stay compliant   so that is why I keep them everywhere. I also keep a baggie of nuts and cranberries in my car.

I don't think they taste like tootsie rolls which I haven't had for decades, but if anyone doesn't like theirs, there are some of us who will gladly take them off your hands!

I wish they were available in stores. I love them, but try to control eating them. I can easily eat 2 at one sitting while most of you probably are full with one.
If they were at stores, I would eat them more often!

My trepidation has more to do with trying something I haven't eaten in a long time and if there will be any negative affects from it.  And then there was the concern about freezing and then sitting at room temp and if that would be bad for them.  I didn't keep them in the freezer.  Seems like my teeth would fall out if I tried to eat them that way.

I used to eat these a while back and I agree that they both taste great.

I'm with you about being careful about how I may react to something I haven't had for a while. But it never has anything to do with whether something has been frozen or not. If I were worried about that, I would simply keep the whole box in the freezer and thaw one at a time as I needed them. Someone suggested keeping them in the freezer, anyway, which I had not even thought of before. A great idea! I hope you enjoy your candy!

Another thing, candy, bread and nuts to name three are not affected so much by freezing and thawing the same as fruits, veggies and meat. They should be cooked before they are refrozen. I have never had any problems with this candy lying around for months.
