I think the recommendation is one cup.  But I also read somewhere in one of Dr. D's books -can't remember where - that if you wait an hour or two between cups you can have more than one cup.

Personally, the only time coffee tastes really good to me is first thing in the morning, at which time I "need" more than one cup.  And very occasionally, late in the evening.

And that is why I brew my Teeccino with just a wee bit of decaf coffee added.  The Teeccino is roasted herbs and nuts (see the "coffee substitute" thread for details about it and comments from other members).  Like everything else, some people really like it (me) and others think it is awful.

ER4YT doesn't mention a portion size or frequency for coffee, tea, wine.  Info is given only for juices.

It does say to alternate coffee and green tea, both of which are beneficial.

My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant.  Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index.  DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer.

Be careful, coffee is not good for all type A's!! It is an avoid on my SWAMI, probably because I have caffeine sensitivity and am therefore a slow acetylator.

It's strange, but the taste of coffee has always repulsed me since childhood, but I've gradually come to somewhat enjoy flavored lattes, mochas (hot or cold depending on time of year) and espresso-type candies. I started experimenting with it when I started following the blood type diet, but now that my SWAMI doesn't even allow it as a black dot food I"m a little bummed. I have to admit that the caffeine in it can truly do wonders if I feel a migraine coming on.

Last night, my husband (who is an O who loves coffee) planned to make a homemade walnut milk latte with his Starbucks pumpkin spice mix and asked if I wanted one. I looked at the clock and it was 6 P.M. and knew it was a big gamble to have anything caffeinated that late in the day, but I had a headache building that could have potentially become worse as the evening wore on. So, I had the latte, it knocked out the headache but I sure did feel stimulated through the entire evening. Fortunately, I slept well overnight after getting to sleep fairly late, but it could have caused insomnia under other circumstances.

Just be aware of some of the potential risks.
