Hi Everyone

I have been off the forums for a while. Still doing BTD, but more low carb.

Wondering how much salt do people use on the BTD? I read how important it is but most of the time, I don't like it.


Also ,  on average, does anyone know how much fat ( grams) they have per day??

I add very little salt to my food...  I have to add iodine via skin patches when needed, but I'm pulling salt out of "junk" deposits.  The answers will vary however, as we all come from different backgrounds, etc.

I've never "measured" or counted the fat in my diet.  I only eat good fats and on an "as needed" basis...

Some of us think that salt is OK to eat, but don't feel you have to have some magical amount.
I find I add more than I used to, but I have very little processed food nowadays.
If you don't crave salt, don't worry about it. You probably get enough!

Sea salt is a diamond on my SWAMI.  Don't assume if you aren't craving salt you're getting enough.  When all but my sodium on a blood test was normal and sodium was 3 points below
the reference range, I started doing a lot of research on "salt".  My problem as I figured out was
always using very little salt....feeling it was unhealthy, could raise blood pressure.  None of this
is true.  Most people use table salt....it's highly refined and filled with unhealthy additives.

The source of your salt means the difference between giving yourself a healing mineral vs a toxic
ingredient.  I only use Himalayan sea sat and I know I get a pinch when I add it to water/lemon
juice in the morning. I cook with sea salt and make it a point when I'm in restaurants to ask for no
salt because I wouldn't know what type of salt is being used.  Commercial table salt ie Morton's salt isn't pure.  Sea salt helps our adrenal glands function and is responsible for electrolyte balance.
Our little bodies were living for 9 months in amniotic fluid which is comprised of salt.  If you are
dehydrated, you might not know it....but if fluids are needed in the ER, it's a saline solution you're
going to get.

Most people with high blood pressure who are being told to lower their sodium intake are inadvertently helping to raise their blood pressure.  Natural sea salt contains many other trace
minerals besides sodium chloride.

If you retain salt in your tissues, then you're probably using too much. I seem to tolerate a lot more
salt than I ever did....but I think my body never got enough salt and is now thriving on this diamond food.

If you've never heard of drinking "sole" first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, google it
and learn why it's healing. I learned about this after reading the book "Water and Salt" by Barbara
Hendel. (amazon.com)

It's taking sea salt rocks, (which I bought from Swanson's vitamins) putting them in a jar filled with pure water, leaving it for 24 hours and each day, taking one teaspoon of this concentrated salt water and adding it to 1 glass of water. I've been doing this daily.... If the salt rocks dissolve,
you keep adding more until they stay in solution.  And keep adding more water so you can use
this same jar of sole pretty much indefinitely.

I don't measure either one. I use salt in my foods to taste, and occasionally add sea salt to my water, too, if I feel I need it.

I know I eat more fat than SWAMI recommends, but I need it. Too little fat and I'm craving carbs and/or too weak to function. When I eat enough, I have the energy to exercise and that's when I'm able to lose weight.

I'm eating almost the same things every day ( unless I cut off buckwheat durning "low days" - calorie cycling) so I made a diet on nutritiondata.self.com ( you can google it) where it shows me vitamins and minerals in whole diet. In fact, my oversized 3.000 kcal diet ( training hard, added some kg since August but still low on fat, and getting stronger every day) had only 30% suggested daily intake of sodium, so I started to add 4 grams of salt to my grounded mix of sesame & flax seed ( 30g/20g). The 54 gram of this mix that I consume every day is extremely salt, and I'm filling my sodium intake that way.
By the way, I also consume about 300% suggested daily intake of potassium, so sodium isn't that evil.

Maybe somebody will understand my sentences, sorry for language

And I'm more on the Genotype diet, but my point was to show this amazing food calculator.
