Other than the $70 saliva test, is there a way to guess what I am?

What book(s) cover this part of the BTD?

Live Right 4 Your Type gives the best explanation of the secretor issue, but it's also explained in the Blood Type Diet Encyclopedia and the "health series" books. Those books each focus on a different health issue (diabetes, menopause, etc).

The diet itself can be a sort of test- try both diets and see how each makes you feel- but that isn't as accurate as the lab test. It's a big chunk of money at once, but then you have the information for a lifetime. If you test your 2yo, he'll never need to do the test again. I would only suggest "try the nonnie diet" to those who have been on the BTD for a while and are only seeing partial results, and who also can't afford the testing. You're still fairly new to this, and you don't want to make things overly complicated for yourself.

The good thing about the lab test is that then you can refine your diet and cut out some of the confusion. "Yes, I definitely need to avoid this food" or "Yay! I don't have to cut out that one!"

Would anyone need to test twice?

If its a saliva test, I dont know that I can get my 2 year old to spit. How is the test collected?

I have the encyclopedia, the ER4YT and Genotype. To be honest, the Genotype book overwhelmed me and scared me off a little. I want to revisit it though.

I have ordered some of the other books, and they are to be delivered in 2 more days.

There are other tests than saliva. Genetic is more expensive and less reliable.

Blood tests work, but are usually not significantly cheaper unless insurance or something else pays for it.

So is the saliva test a plastic container you spit in, or do you put your tongue on a paper or what?

thank you

Is it a one day test, or many? I did a saliva test several years ago that was over a month and a half in time.

It's a small  vial, and it takes maybe half an hour to an hour to fill it. Then it gets mailed to the lab.
