Haven't had any caffeine for 3 1/2 years. Got off it (soft drinks) when I was in the hospital because heart doctor said no more! Only drink water and a little lemon juice. BTW, bananas give me headaches and they are an avoid on my IgG blood test and my Swami. Avocados are avoid on my blood test but not on my Swami. They can cross-react with bananas.
I have had a migraine most of the day. I think it is because my husband used strong bleach in the washing machine last night. I ran the air purifier, but the bleach stunk up the entire house. I am extremely sensitive to chemicals.

Lifelong coffee drinker and migraine sufferer here, too.

I'm completely off it now, and no more migraines. I weaned myself off coffee by stopping cold turkey, and substituting the caffeine with Vivarin for a short while (it has avoids), then less of that, and finally yerba matte concentrate squirted into my morning lemon water. Eventually the Y.M. became unnecessary as well. And I'm wide awake in the mornings-- a condition I'd always associated with the coffee ritual, but it's not true! Just the caffeine proving how powerfully addictive it is.

I had migraines since teenage years, in my thirties, I was taking prescribed migraine medication.
I believe for me, that it was due to the wrong foods, at wrong times of day, possibly in wrong combinations, snacking, lifestyle factors, poor liver and bowel function/habits, poor stress response which comes back to poor nutrition.
I rarely have migraines these days, and haven't taken any pharma'l medicines for some years now.
many people eat too much, even if they aren't hungry, and food can be used to deal with stress or unpleasant emotions/thoughts.
try every day to make a freshly made veg juice; beet, carrot, celery, spinach (just a little), green apple.  I make mine around 11am if I am home as this time leads into pitta time when energy in liver/stomach starts to rise/increase, and provides enzymes for stomach acids and for liver energy.  fresh small green salad, stir fried vegies, cooked brown rice with either chick peas (garbanso beans), split mung beans, adzuki beans for lunch.  if I need a snack, I eat some nuts around 4pm, and dinner for me is a warm nourishing lentil soup (light meal around 6pm). this works well for me right now, as I don't digest the animal proteins or fats too well, I do eat ghee every day.  Breakfast for now is fruit, grain, sweetener, pine nuts, almonds.  I try to eat orange, red, golden at breakfast as advised by Ayurvedic doctor who I consulted with recently.
Keep trying with different approaches and you'll succeed in the end.
also, as others said, enough water every day, and rest/stress management - yoga is working well for me, as well as walks in natural outdoor setting.

Wise Water - every morning, I put some freshly boiled water in thermus flask, add quaarter tsp food grade rose petals, fresh mint or quarter tsp dried mint, quarter tsp cumin seeds, quarter tsp coriander seeds, quarter tsp fennel seeds, seeds from two cardamom pods.  I drink this regularly through the day, it helps detox where-ever in the body detoxing is needed. One could add tumeric or fresh ginger if they wanted, or other herbs, depending on issues one wishes to address.

Thanks

Sounds precious, have to give this a try, constant detox is vital for me.

I am again suffering 'my' headaches which are 6 hours come and go at will.  Many times daily ..

I have done many things and some times think it is connected to 'internalized ' stress.  like something that expresses my 'emotional discomfort' in the headache..  just a guess, as nothing else makes sense.. BUT occasionally I think more Magnesium is helpful, and then other times I do not think it helps..

I do not care so much for larger doses as then I have to run, at unpredictable times..

Yet worth a try.. I bought some in suplemtal forms - as the taste of magnesium gags me ( milk of Magnesia) ...

I think some day I will have to be Dilligent bejond days but rather weeeks .. in order to find what I still eat to trigger the pain.. which is really a muscle tenseness starting in the neck, ennding in Trygeminal areas.

I soon wonder if a few muscle relaxing low dose Valiums would not work well at the very beginning of anset.. to relax the muscles and thus avoid the 'whiplash effect' I get from coffee or painkillers with caffeine..

On the other hand I used to be able to dissuede my muscles from becoming tense with Standard Process Ligaplex ll from chiro.. It contains good stuff and in my case I can take it as often as pain returns.. Actually as I type this I am making a bip page note about that to post on the cubbard to remind me!!!!.

Somehow when I ge head/neck pain.. for weeks at a time.. then a few days off.. I seem to forget that simple solution..   I need to keep that in my mind!!!

Sorry I just talk about me just now, but I suffer a headache and feel miserable.   it helps to share..

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

I'm new to the BTD diet as well and I've been having headaches all week in the middle of my forehead - sometimes it causes my vision to seem weird as well. I thought maybe it was caffeine but I tested the theory by drinking coffee one day and it didn't work.

My doctor also put me on a few new supplements... but I can't imagine they'd cause a headache...

Thyroidstim
Magnesium & Potassium
Clinical Strength Probiotic
Phytomulti

I'm starting to think that the caffeine withdrawal is too quick, combined with adding things to my diet that I've rarely (if ever) eaten.  I saw that coffee was an "avoid" so I started drinking green tea, but I think the drop in caffeine is too much.  I had to have a small bit of coffee today just to keep another headache from coming on because the green tea wasn't cutting it.  I also think that the beef liver I cooked up and have been eating the past couple of days might be a trigger.  So I probably better leave that out.  Buffalo and sirloin steak doesn't seem to bother me.  I don't know about the Ezekial bread, but I think that's OK.  I'm trying out a lot of new green veggies I NEVER ate before like kale and romaine lettuce and parsley (putting them in a juicer because I just can't stand to eat them).  I wasn't much of a veggie eater anyway except for spinach (which I like and am glad is "beneficial").  I used to get most of my protein from chicken and Greek yogurt, but I saw that chicken was "neutral" and all yogurt was "avoid" so I replaced them with red meat.   I'm probably going into the BTD too fast and need to introduce the new beneficials one or two at a time instead of all at once.  Just a little too gung ho I guess.

To answer the question about constipation, I actually go 1-2 times a day.  I seem to be sensitive to veggies and too much fiber (make me go too much) so I don't have to worry about having enough fiber.  Nice problem to have I guess.

Some other info is that I'm not over weight but I'm not scrawny either.  I exercise regularly (running and strength training 3-5 x week) and am taking a lot of different supplements (holistic remedies) to keep my migraines under control: 5-HTP, Migrelief, Pentadolax, liver tonic pills, melatonin, GABA, SAMe, B vits and minerals.  I also drink Mona Vie every day.  Without these I would have migraines almost daily.  Now I get them about 1-2 times a month, but lately since starting this diet the frequency has more than doubled.  Hence, why I started this thread - to try to learn what I'm doing wrong.

this all sounds familier. I never had mirgrains but I did have frequent head aches. if you get into geno I think you will find yourself an exsplorer. on my list of o+ exsplorer all livers seem to be an avoid. (no prob as I hate liver ) have you tried yerba mate' ? it has 100mg of caffeine per cup and I used it as a base for my raw coaco to help get away from coffee I still have the occasional cup but not like I used to. it was about a year before I lost my head aches almost completely (now I only get them in bad weather).  remember every one is different, even if the diet says to eat chocolate ( for ex ) if you know your body can not handle it then don't eat it. it will also take time for your body to detox from things you have eaten for years so be patient.

I also forgot to mention about ajwan seeds (sold at Indian grocery store) to be put into the wise water, about one eighth of a tsp is fine as ajwan seed is quite potent/strong.
avoid dairy, as I think in some of us, it interferes with mineral absorption. we need all the magnesium and other minerals to relax.
Use a good quality salt, like Himalyan Mountain salt, Ayurvedic rock salt, sea salt, etc.
Yoga is great, pranayama (breathing) and Yoga mudra exercises helping me a lot, do before breakfast and dinner. try to walk while sun is rising, even a short walk is great.
When your system is more alkaline, things should improve, so keep up veggies and veg juices with some green/granny smith apple added to your raw juice! most alkaline grains are millet, buckwheat, quinoa, amaranth!
