Hello, hows everyone doing today? Im kinda new here to this forum, not new to the BTD though. Lately I have been having dry peeling lips not sure of the cause so I would love to see what you guys here would say about it. It started a month or so ago after I ate a salad with apple vinegar and some nice lamb chops < BOTH AVOID FOR ME. It went on for about a 7 to 9 days until my lips was perfectly heeled. Not smart of me, after that I literally went for 3 days with eating avoids like, ALOT of potato chips with tomato chilli sauce dip! Ice cream, philly cheese steak for lunch and dinner, black tea inbetween etc..! And now... my lips are peeling, sore and I cant smile (its painful). At first I thought, oh well, dehydration maybe? Started drinking up to 5 liters a day, not that. Tried putting olive oil on it, helps temporarily. Im really concerned, I wish im just recovering from the avoids, but its been almost a month now. I dont think its vitamin deficiency either cuz as I said it was sudden and after eating alot of avoids. I cant afford or can go to a doctor right now, any help would be appreciated.

PS; Im type A secretor and I think im a teacher.

Ouch?! Might pay to check levels of salicylates in foods you are continuing to eat... Some people react to them & those avoids sound high in them... They can build up in your system so that once you have a high level - until you completely detox from them - even a small amount can keep making you react...

Only way I know of is to avoid sals until you are better... Then try to stick to food/drink etc (including hair/soap products) that are low in sals until you know how much you can tolerate?!

Try this site - Salicylate Sensitivity - Home - All about salicylates and salicylate ...
SalicylateSensitivity.com exists to help those who suffer from salicylate sensitivity and other chemical sensitivities to find ...
salicylatesensitivity.com - Cached

Healing/clearing your liver seems to help you tolerate more...

I also would try to feed the liver - maybe try to follow the liver support protocol -
http://www.dadamo.com/protocols/19.html

Some Deflect would probably assist in cleaning some of the problems out of the gut so the body could heal faster...

My lips peel when my stomach is not happy - as in high stress times, nervous stomach, food not digesting well.

If you are allowed... maybe do applications of caster oil on your belly, or take spoons full of it.. for cleansing ...

I have dry lips all my life.. chapsticks plain I like better, but use way to often..

I wonder if some hormone cream might help balancing..

.
If allowed look up in Encyclopedia .. what really helps for lips (for fewerblisters) is Pantothenic acid..

Dr D has a precurser to that and it is supposed to be better.. more expencive, but possibly worth it..

Pantothenic acid protects against sun damage, stress, or wind damage, or food avoids all of which cause issues.

Take 500 mg for one bottle then the next lower dose you can find for a bottle and then 100mg's for ever..  or when needed.. makes a world of difference..

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

As I have mentioned before - if anyone is considering using castor oil, I would strongly advise making sure it is organic (after my bad experience )

Goldie, discontinue the Chapstick and your lips will thank you.

I'd used lip balm of one sort or another everyday for my entire adult life, until developing a rash from Burt!s Bees and stopped. (Retries convinced me it was the lip balm and not something else). The interesting thing, though, is that this happened just as I was starting BTD a few years ago, and found that my lips no longer needed it. I rarely use anything now, even in the dead of winter when the humidity in my home is in the 20's.

Maybe it's the compliancy with BTD/GTD?

Is Chapstick still made with petroleum products?

Ooh I missed the part about chapstick... Don't know about the petroleum (tho' I suspect so) but what I have heard is that there are ingredients in it (& it is designed that way deliberately) to make you addicted to it so you need to keep using it...

Goldie I'm surprised you need chapstick or anything at all with the oil you take? I certainly find that I don't need anything on my lips to keep them from getting dry, unless I have used lipstick, (which I rarely do these days)

Calldium, do you have any psoriasis? When mine got bad, my lips joined in the party. They were a mess! The peeling is a clue there.

If it turns out to be psoriasis, see my thread called Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA).

You guys are great!

On the Warpath! Grrrr, watch out!

If you are breathing through your mouth by habit or if you are congested, that can cause chapped or dry lips for sure.
