I know this has probably been discussed before and I did search the forums, but I didn't find the exact answers I was looking for.
So I recently found out I'm Typy O+ and have been super excited to try the BTD. I'm also Hypothyroid, currently on 100mcg/day of Levothyroxine. I'm about 50 lbs overweight as well, but do exercise occasionally. After reading through the information on what Type O's should eat, I'm seeing a lot of conflicting info taking into account I'm also Hypothyroid.
For instance, Type O diet says Walnuts are Highly Beneficial for Typo O, but for Hypothyroid people, we are told to avoid them due to them interfering with the absorption of the thyroid medication.
I also find many of the following, which are Type O friendly, contraindicated for people with Hypothyroid:
soy (huge no-no for hypothyroid), cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, spinach, kale, sweat potato, etc..
I know most of the problems with the veggies can be overcome by steaming, or cooking them to kill the goitrogens, so is the answer to just never eat them raw? Do I avoid the foods that BTD says are good for Type O, but are considered bad for Hypothyroid people?
Also Hypothyroid people are told to limit the intake of red meat, which goes against Type O and the BTD.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me? As I said I'm really excited to get going on this, because I'd like to get rid of this weight that I've been carrying and get my energy levels back where they should be.
Thank you for reading.
