Here's the deal; my dh and 2 sons stay out late after attending a concert. They get to sleep in as late as they want, and then the entire family enjoys a very healthy, gluten free waffle breakfast for dd's requested birthday breakfast. Everyone ate moderate portions.

After church, we meet friends at a large Asian buffet and had a large mid-afternoon meal. We had no dinner/supper plans, but had a homemade ice cream dessert for my dd's birthday dessert in the evening. Again, the portions were very moderate.

It was my 17 year old Nomad son that ended up having a very miserable night last night feeling sick to his stomach. Yes he ate some avoids at the buffet, but he didn't overeat in my opinion and he usually doesn't eat himself sick like his twin non-secretor brother often times does.

He has always been my "least sick" child, not usually picking up illnesses easily and usually having mild versions of whatever illnesses go through the family. However, of my 4 children, seems most prone to nausea and vomiting when he's tired and eats a "larger than normal" meal.

Is that a Nomad or type B characteristic, or are some people just that way? Usually my son gets this type of sickness in association with motion sickness in the back of the car and once on a flight. However, with all the driving around over the weekend he didn't complain of feeling car sick. He also felt O.K. while eating dessert yesterday evening which was several hours after the buffet.

Anyone else have this kind of problem?

Meat at chinese resteraunts is frequently dusted with corn starch before being stirfried. Many also use MSG. Once in preBTD day I ate some General Tsao's chicken at a chinese buffet. I just made it to the parking lot before I puked in the landscaping. Ordering off of the menu is a bit safer, just say:no corn, no msg, no corn starch, no chicken, no chicken broth, no peanuts. Anything else a healthy B can tolerate occasionally.

I have a dbil who gets really, really sick sometimes, and they have never found out the cause. But most of the time it is when they are away from home. It just comes out of the blue when he least expects it. Many weekend trips have been ruined with this malady. They have wondered if it could be the difference in water and any number of things, but on too many other occasions nothing at all happens, so they rule all of them out. It is weird, to say the least. I don't know his blood type.

Both of my O kids used to get sick a lot when they would be away for trips or eat out.  I would explain to other parents they weren't good with soft drinks, fast food, or junk food and they could/would puke.  Happened numerous times, kids would feel a lot better once they were sick and got rid of the offending food from their systems.  The O nonnie was worse than the O sec.

My kids don't tend to get nauseated from lack of sleep or eating the wrong foods. Yeah, too much sugar will cause nausea, but for my family, too many days in a row of lack of sleep and/or eating wrong will result in getting sick- mild fever, sore throat, etc. We tend to pick up on a circulating virus when our immunity is compromised.

My son is feeling much better today, but he doesn't want to exert himself as he is still recovering from a headache and a slightly sour stomach. Tae Kwon Do will not be helpful for him tonight so he will be staying home from class.

Everyone else in our family appears to be doing and feeling fine, although my other son has been ornery to say the least yesterday and today. That is a very common side effect of eating noncompliants in him.

I agree MSG and the other sauces and oils used in Asian food can be very questionable in terms of what side effects they produce, but since we have Asian children and enjoy eating Asian food from time to time, I can't see is discontinuing eating it entirely. More often than not it does not result in sickness, but I am very careful about avoiding MSG in the food I buy as I know I have had migraines in the past from it.

Szechuan style chinese food contains peanuts and peanut oil often. I seem to do allright on Hunan.
