So in the TypeBase 4, it states that Bs are allowed coffee, but I remember reading in a post somewhere (which I now can't find!) that Bs should avoid it? Can anyone clear this up for me?

According to Typebase, Coffee is Neutral for Type B secretors, but Avoid for B-Nonnies...

It is possible that a B-Nonnie wrote that they couldn't have coffee and you read it failing to note their Non status...

I'm a secretor and Nomad and I don't do well with coffee. It is an avoid on my SWAMI too. Green tea chai with goats milk and sweetened with agave is a nice substitute for that creamy coffee richness that so many people enjoy.

Interesting that it is avoid, wonder what makes the difference

I really dot like chai regular green tea or tea with lemon, ginger is fine

I need to cut down on black tea tough but I find it so hard not to drink first thing in the morning

So true, Kristen!  Chai is what enabled me to finally divorce coffee, which had been beating me up all my life (even though I loved it so much).  I learned to make my own chai because all the pre-made varieties had something in them that I didn't want to be consuming.

I simmered together cardamom pods, a little cloves and fresh ginger.  Sometimes I would use a bit of star anise, nutmeg or cinnamon.  I started out with black peppercorns too, but gradually fine-tuned my recipe to omit those spices that are really not good for me personally (such as the cinnamon and pepper). Then I added Kukicha (roasted twig) tea because it was the most stout, and let that steep together for 10 or 15 min. before adding my hot goat milk (or milk substitute) and sweetener.  I was using maple syrup or honey. I honestly didn't miss coffee after I got this recipe perfected to my taste.

Now, I don't drink Chai anymore.  It's just too many flavors for me.  I'm in love with Genmaicha (green tea with toasted brown rice) and drink a couple of big mugs  every day.  I love Itaru's tea.

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.

of some rare and perfect tomorrow.

Henriette,
I find it very difficult to do without my
Barry's Irish breakfast tea every morning first thing, too! After lemon water!
I enjoy coffee later in the day...even at night!
I drink many different types of tea all during the day...alot of green with ginger.

I've read the same thing as ABJoe; that it was neutral for B secretors, but on the avoid list for B non-secretors. I've never actually liked coffee all that much, ironically enough.

Genotypes for B's like nomads and gatherers can have coffee in moderation in the GTD book, but it is to be avoided by explorers and hunters.

There are some things on my avoid list that I have absolutely no problem avoiding it, coffee is one of them.  I can’t even stand the smell of it.  Another confirmation of listen to your body.

My son, a B+ secretor, likes coffee.

I like coffee. Until I stop liking it.
Throughout the course of my life there have been periods (often about 18 months long) when I don't want to drink it, so I wean myself from it over a period of a week or so, and then one day I have a desire for it again, and I drink it again.

But I'm that way with a number of foods/ meals.
As many know, I'm not a breakfast-eater, for the most part. But sometimes I enjoy it.
And there's no habitual breakfast or lunch -food for me, either. I can eat vastly different things from one day to another.

As for Typebase and the D'Adamo books, just go with those for the values.
B Secretor is a great type to be, IMO.
