Hi all!

Food for Life's website lists all kinds of products.  Now I know that as a B it's all pretty neutral for me but is there a loaf and wrap that is safer than the others?  Their site lists so many options!  Obviously their sesame bread is out but what about the others?

What's a poor B to do?

I don't do well with gluten in any form, so I don't eat bread.  I've gotten comfortable with eating a couple of lightly toasted rice cakes as a base for "sandwich" type things.

My type B daughter sometimes buys Mana bread in the freezer section of the health food store - Carrot-Raisin is the one she gets.  It is all sprouted wheat berries, if you can eat gluten.

Some people bake their own Flax bread with no wheat - more like a flat bread, and some bake rice flour loaves.  Others will have to give you recipes for those.

Ezekiel has changed its' ingredients over the years and seem to have added gluten or unsprouted flour in the list.  It's important to read ingredients carefully.

We knew within 1 loaf when the gluten was added to Ezekiel bread...  No longer an option...  We now make any bread items we eat, although mostly quick breads - pancakes, muffins, etc...  We also use some ready-made rice tortillas and rice cakes.

Is gluten an avoid for B people?  I could do with their 4:9 bread if it's neutral.

Ok, how about this wrap?  This looks pretty OK, right?  Right?

Thanks!

The  gluten naturally present in wheat or spelt is not a problem on the basic B diet. There are some Type B individuals with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity- who cannot have any gluten even though it's OK for Bs in general.

Gluten flour is a processed product  that's made from wheat flour. It's often added to baked goods to give the finished products a nicer texture. That kind of gluten flour is an "avoid" for Bs- so if a bread has that added as an ingredient, the whole bread becomes an "Avoid" for you.

So it looks like the brown rice tortilla is the only safe one, along with this:

Taxman, it really depends on how compliant you aim to be.  It's a personal choice.

I don't eat avoids, so I wouldn't be eating either of those rice bread products.  Some people choose to eat foods if the majority of ingredients are acceptable for their type.  Others, like myself, stay away from all avoids, even those in small amounts like gums, oils and starches in prepared foods.
