Peanut is diamond for me. It is delicious and very portable. I eat dry roasted in the shell for afternoon snack every day. But I am well aware of aflatoxins in peanut and very hard to give up.
Any one knows how the diamond food would weigh against toxin?

The well known risks associated with particular foods are included in their ranking. So while aflatoxin is a very potent liver carcinogen, most commercial sources of peanuts are inspected and should be fairly safe to eat.
Improper storage and handling of peanuts can lead to contamination. So you may want to take care in selecting your source of peanuts and with how you store the nuts.
From health perspective it is probably bet to not over rely on a single food. So you may not want to use up all vegetable protein servings on peanuts. |

C_sharp I shop my food from Trader Joe or Whole Food and they do not carry organic peanut.
Still there is always risk eating peanut. I am stupid not giving it up. I was hoping to hear diamond food would override toxin.
Thank you. |

I am not sure of either companies supplier of peanuts.
But Trader Joe uses Sunland Inc for peanut butter products.
Sunland Inc also supplies peanuts so Trader Jo's may well be using them for that as well.
Trader Joe's recently had to recall a substantial portion of the Sunland supplied peanut products because of salmonella contamination.
In-shell peanuts by sunland have also had to be recalled, but I do not recall whether Trader-Joes had these or just processed products.
Since Sunland knowingly shipped peanut products with salmonella contamination it is hare to trust them on the aflatoxin issues.

I know people who have eaten nothing but peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for years when they were young who seem to be thriving in their latter years. A cousin of my husband's ate absolutely NOTHING but those sandwiches until he was grown! Another man we know ate VANILLA WAFERS, period, for years! He was as pale as a ghost. Now, he is hale and hearty with a nice family! It is amazing how much abuse some bodies can take!! |

I am very curious to know when there is well known toxin threat, how diamond vs toxin weigh.
Diamond foods are medicinal and the toxin is obviously harmful. There are different strengths for each Diamond as well as toxins, however, so without discussing specific food and toxin - as well as relative amounts, it would be difficult to discuss competently the relative benefit/harm done. In the case of peanut vs. aflatoxin: In the US, it should be very rare to purchase peanuts with aflatoxin present as the commercial peanuts are all tested for it. This appears to be a reasonable overview of the concerns: http://bbrocc.wordpress.com/2010/05/03/aflatoxin-the-peanut-butter-scare-lives-on/ |

ABJoe, that is very good article.
I am buying peanut from grocery and found that company is located in Los Angeles downtown. Company is 30 miles away but I am going to drive there to get fresh roasted peanut.
Thank you everyone.
I felt stupid when I started here but I was not be able to give up peanut. This is my happy day. |
