You need to add good fats and complete protein for each meal including snack.
I am blood type A and Swami Teacher. I was not be able digest fat and also was told I should not eat fat. So I was completely off the fat for a long time. After I started this Swami diet, now I know fat is not the problem, it is beef or chicken protein. I added good fat from olive oil, coconut oil, avocado and raw nuts. Then I lost all unwanted visceral fat, heals better from infection and more energy. I used see doctor regulary for low white blood count over 3 years. Lab test confirmed white blood cell count is above normal and I do not have to see doctor for that. I will be 70 years old in July and play single tennis game 3 times a week and swim outdoor pool almost everyday.
You get complete protein from animal meat, egg or fish. Otherwise you have to combine foods to make it complete protein. Indian has long history and experience on this otherwise it requires lots of knowledge.
Please do not give up. It is in your hand. |

for my opinion you are lacking enormously aminoacids!!! Go and google about MAP, this is a good option to drop all sugars and I'd reverse also the intake of fruit juices to the morning intake. No alcohol at all for a while, and a positive attitude to yourselve greetings from Switzerland |

[quote=28875]Thank you all for your responses. To start with what I eat,, well, it is the same everday so here goes. Breakfast- How much oatmeal? Skip the palm brown sugar soy milk, use water Ginseng green tea skip the stevia and royal jelly honey. Snack- An apple with peanut butter. or an large handful of seeds. Lunch- A huge salad of spinach, carrots, celery, mushrooms, cucumber, walnuts, raisins and a home made dressing of silken tofu, garlic, mustard powder and roaly jelly honey. Water or coffee, black. For dinner is the kicker. Every night is juice. I use my juicer to make it. Grapefruit (3), carrots (3), beets (2 small), blueberries (1 cup) and 1/2 a large pineapple. I drink this over the evening. In 2 glasses I add 4 ounces of white wine with the fruit mix. Evening snack is always pumpkin seeds. Roasted and salted because I am addicted to them. small cup of the hand only and stop salting them. Some days, maybe 2 times a week I will have a beer with my husband. Honestly, I think I am following the diet - Good one The diet is about portion size as well as eating the right foods. you are addicted to sugar it has replaced the cigarettes no doubt. |

I think you eat too many carbs. I would cut the grains and limit the fruits and do secretor test (if possible). Good luck. I hope you can make this work! |

It sounds like you've gotten some good advice so far about specific changes to make to your diet. I don't think I can add to it.
I do want to point out, though, that sometimes our bodies don't lose weight when we want them do. Improve your diet and exercise, and your body may choose to do some healing before letting go of excess fat. You did mention having more energy, right?
Also, many women find it difficult to lose weight during menopause. All of our bodies are a little bit different- by age 51, some women are past menopause and already have balanced hormones, others are just getting started, and others are right in the thick of it. If hormonal imbalance is part of your problem, diet will help somewhat but you also may benefit from hormone-balancing herbs or bioidentical hormones. It's something to look into if things don't settle down after a few weeks of lower carb/higher protein. |

Too much fruit and way too late in the day. Eat your fruits in the morning otherwise your body will not be able to burn off all during the day. Now you eat a lot of sugar in the evening. Not a good thing. Try eating some yoghurt in the evening.
Also try to incorporate some veggies like Cauliflower, brocolli etc. Stirfry them in some olive oil if you don't want to really cook them. And do eat some chicken or turkey every now and then. You need more protein.
And again, breakfast like a King, Lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. That works for A's. We have a slow metabolism and our body needs time to digest and burn food. Don't eat after 8 PM unless of course you go to bed at 3 in the morning. Stop eating 3 to 4 hours before you go to bed. |

Once again thank you everyone. Seeing the responses was an eye opener. 1st off, I never put 2 and 2 together about the amount of fruit. I looked at the list of what I could have and went with it. I am excited for some turkey but will be closely watching my amounts. The beer and wine are now gone, even though wine is neutral. I just don't like the taste of full strength wine. I will be ordering a secretion test on payday. Toronto looks good for purchases,,, thank you Kamloops Because I was not using any table sugar etc, other than a tbs. on my morning oatmeal of organic brown palm sugar, I thought I was doing okay. Sometimes it just pays to open it up so other people can help you break through. I like the way this plan has made me feel and am super stoked to see how I do without all the extra sugars and some turkey. My portion sizes are going to change as well. This morning I had a poached organic egg on a peice of gluten free toast. Ginseg green tea straight up and it was awsome. I take a B-complex plus a B12 (methylcobalamin) strip at 1000mgs, a high quality fish oil (because I just can't eat fish) , Vitamins A, C, D and E, plus milk thistle. I take a calcium magnesium supplement but am going to buy the recommended Aquamin (in the ER4YT book). My probiotic is Ultimate Flora 50 billion and I take it twice a day. This vitamin therapy has been going on for years with the Probiotics introduced about 1 1/2 months ago. I also rub my feet with magnesium oil twice a week. I am excited to have all this get realigned. You people have given me something to grab a hold of. I might even get a full nights sleep without the evening sugar blast. I will also no longer call this a diet, it is my new way of living, my lifestyle. Everything just changed.........Everything. Thank you |

I think it's insulin resistance and the jucie you're drinking for dinner is totally shooting your blood sugar sky high. You probably should stop the juice for dinner and eat fish or tofu or even turkey. |

Thanks everyone for being so helpful to this person. I would only add that lowering stress/ cortisol always seems to remove roadblocks to type A's who have plateaued with their weight loss goals. |

Amen to that. I was trying to address that in the last paragraph of one of my posts. Multiple tragedies and the heroic effort to quit smoking --- who could hold up under that without a high cost..... I've never smoked, but I know people who have gone through that awful stress. But there was a period in my life that it began to look like everyone we knew was going to die. Before things began to look better we had lost nearly twenty-five relatives and friends. I know older people face a lot of losses, but we were in our forties. It got to the point that I didn't know how to live without being charged up on cortisol. The first few times I took Cortiguard I thought I was having a severe hypoglycemic attack! Truthfully, I think I would be dead if it had not been for these diets that I was fortunate enough to learn about. No doubt, many others on the forum feel the same way. |

Same here! However I do not seem to be able to get rid of the stress since it's from an outside source, that besides the worries about my mother, work and so many other things. I do try, however, to do some relaxing exercises every evening. Unfortunately I don't succeed every day. Is it a characteristic of A's to worry about everything? |

Some A's definitely worry about everything, but not all do... My mom was very relaxed as is my daughter... My WW often tends to worry about all the bad things that "may" happen - even more so than things that do happen. |

Your supplements should focus on stress reduction. I would change over to other things that will have more benefit for the time being. |

I am an A that used to worry and stress out over things but I learned to stop. I've learned to remind myself that worry never made anything better. I've also learned to hear what my inner voice is telling me and asking myself if it's true. |
