There have been a few polls lately about blood types or specific genotypes. Before we come to too many conclusions about how many men or women fall into specific genotypes, I think it would help if we knew just how many men and women were on the board to begin with. |

Indeed However, it seems that intersex genitalia are more common than I thought: http://www.isna.org/faq/frequencySo statistically speaking, it wouldn't surprise me if there were some people who define themselves as "intersex" here. |

Often wondered about the demographics here. Consider also that many of our posters have spouses and children that are on board with the diet, but not on this board posting.
Also hoping to see more younger people here, before they start getting ill from their processed food diets. The good and bad news is that either way they will.

Maybe because women tend to be more communicative and community orientated, so it's nice to have men joining in too...? If that's not too sexist to say (only applies as a generalisation of course) I would be prepared to bet on the fact, though, that more often in a family or couple that adopts BT diet it's the female that is responable for bringing the change in the first place, rather than the opposite way round. Several reasons for that including the fact that women, especially in older generations, tend to be more responsable for cooking/food preparation and shopping. |

I believe we will not be able to input/vote the differences within a family under one email acct..

You are probably correct in this, although in our case, who started it depended on who needed it most is who drove the change... Of course, I'm willing to doing my own cooking (and shopping, if needed), so it didn't depend on someone else making it happen... |

I think that is pretty well it. Once you have adapted by learning to do your own cooking all sorts of possibilities are opened up for you. |

I purposely set this poll to allow each user only one vote. I know that many of us are preparing foods for whole families of varying blood and genotypes. But this poll is designed to see who's a member here and who's active enough to vote in polls. It will help give context to other polls that ask about genotype and gender- are there very few male Gatherers because there are few men on this board, or because most Gatherers are female? |

Good idea. If you tried to include everyone associated with the board as well it would become complicated to the absurd and probably inaccurate due to the volatility of everyone's habits. Although I have never given it much thought the female:male ratio is a little steeper than I would have guessed. There could also be different imbalances within different Genotypes as well. Interesting. |

It's possible that the higher percentage of females here is due to how some of the partly-diet-related medical conditions that are serious (and incurable) tend to affect more females than males. Consider MS and Lupus, for example.
Thanks for the poll, Ruthie. |
| My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant. Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index. DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer. |

Females are also, it appears, likelier to participate in online diet forums. |

I'm surprised there are no "Other" votes. Not that I expect more androgynous board members. It's just that it's so tempting to select Other as a wise-expletive deleted answer. I guess this post tells you more about me than anything. |
