This looks great for us BTD/GTD'ers. I know some do not get banana and would have to experiment. The recipe can be tweaked for our individual needs. For instance, I do not get coconut oil and so I would use flax seed oil or perhaps a combo of that with ghee. I will make this, but not sure when. For those who do make this with your personal 'tweak', please do share. I love it when people do so. It is always interesting to see what GulfCoastGuy comes up with! Enjoy! This site has many great recipes. http://www.damyhealth.com/2013/01/funky-monkey-freezer-fudge/ |

That site just sucked my memory dry for about 2 minutes. and does not work properly with chrome.
the vanilla is not a good option for some.
I hope you don't mind me being honest but any diet site that starts with chocolate cake is just plain silly to me. lol anyone can lose weight, it's slightly more difficult to get internally healthy. although to be fair I can do neither lol |

I'm not trying to diet, so I don't care about whether they start out their recipe section with a chocolate dessert. What I'm looking for are alternate uses of ingredients for common recipes, and this site is just one more for the reference file. Thanks Dianne! |

PC - No offence taken, but as I stated, tweaking is in order and I eat 'cookies', 'brownies' like these using my compliant, soaked, sprouted, diamond adzuki beans and glycerin for sweetening. Sometimes for breakfast!!! And it's great when out and about to carry as an extremely healthy snack. And...like Drea, I am not on any diet. I posted the site for the many wonderful ideas and possibilities as so many of the ingredients are BTG/GTD friendly. I love the fact that this recipe uses so much pumpkin puree which is a diamond for me and a very pleasant way to combine them. I'm sorry that you are struggling at this time with your health as seen on other posts. |

I'm not struggling, sometimes my humour is missed or not made clear enough, there is absolutely no need to apologise lol the site is great for recipes but is useless for people trying to lose weight, the temptation ie too much, which is the main reason for the site that all I'm saying. and with humour. the lady running the site is just trying to get hits for the page and make a living which is fine. but to do it with the hand on heart" I'm doing this to help people" is just silly like I said. if you want to be healthy and slim don't eat cake lol easy and actually just for the record I'm not over weight in the slightest - i have a bloated stomach but am under 12 stone. I'm having a flare up with stuff. and would like to avoid sweets etc. but not for weight issue - for health issues - i would like to make that clear. I could go on but I know you know what I mean oxo kind regards as always |

After reading through some of the recipes and THIS site, I think I'll sub more pumpkin puree (diamond) for the banana (avoid), and add some chia seeds to make it plump up. Can hardly wait! |

Great idea Drea. I'll pass it on to a few "SWAMIED" friends who can't have bananas! That's what I like about everyone chiming in, sometimes the obvious isn't so obvious. |

Okay, so here's what I ended up doing: I used 12 pre-soaked pitted dates, 1/8 cup of melted ghee in place of the coconut oil, an extra cup of pumpkin puree, and 2 Tbsp chia seeds. It was not nearly chocolate-y enough for me, and it was a little bit bitter, so I added an additional 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder. The consistency turned out great, and the taste was pretty darned good (good enough to lick the bowl ), and now they are in the freezer to "set". If I do this again, I think I'll sub a ripe avocado for the banana. I'm wondering if all that pumpkin was making it bitter? |

Drea - I suppose that the banana sweetens things up quite a bit. Believe it or not sometimes I'll just eat pumpkin puree out of the can so to speak because I crave it and I have never found it to be bitter. So I'm puzzled about the bitterness. Unsweetened cocoa powder has a natural bitterness to it, I enjoy bitter foods like dandelion, endive, 100% dark chocolate etc... Wondering...can chia seeds on their own be bitter? In any event Drea, do let us know how they are once set? GCG - You'll have to post more of your creations, they always make me drool!!! I was especially impressed with what you would come up with on SanJ's "cooking show". |

Most of them aren't my creations as such but ideas from a variety of cookbooks, magazines ect that I may or may not have adapted to Bnomad acceptability. My garden seeds for spring planting are sprouting right now so I imagine I'll be more inspired as it warms up. |

All right so I made this last night and I used evoo instead of coconut oil, prunes instead of dates, almond butter (unsalted) - trader joe's and 100% maple syrup. I omitted the banana (avoid for me) and vanilla extract and did not add protein powder. I had to defrost it a bit because it was hard as a rock when it came out of the freezer (guess our freezer is really cold). It was actually a lot like ice-cream. Very good. Thanks again for the recipe!

Chrome worked perfectly! Well, come OOOOON! Some people don't even like vanilla. No problem. I didn't think there was the faintest thing silly about this site. I can use this recipe to make something that is totally beneficial for me. Are you in a bad mood today or something? Maybe that pizza is getting hold of you! |

I've book marked the recipe to try in future. Think that might be really nice to have when the weather gets warmer. I found a similar (ingrediants wise) recipe a few days ago, which I've been having as a breakfast and love-it's such comfort food. It was a 'cake in a mug' recipe to be microwaved, but I adapted it to bake in a bowl lol because I don't use microwaves for health reasons. You mash up a banana in a bowl then add in a beaten egg, tablespoon almond butter and tablespoon cocoa powder and mix together (I use a hand blender.) You may want to add some compliant sweetner to taste. (I found it a little bitter just with sweetness of banana.) You stick in the oven then for about 5 minutes on a high heat. The top part becomes baked like a cake, whilst the rest is still liquidy but hot. I love that but if you wanted it all as a cake texture you could just leave it in a little longer-maybe 10-15 minutes. That's it-it takes 5 mins prep and you just eat it out of the bowl-so minimal washing up. I've also used carob powder instead of cocoa-in which case you don't need any additional sweetner. Had it one time with a teaspoon of cinammon added-another time, orange essence. I have also used hazelnut butter instead of almond. I think there could be endless variations using different nut butters and spices/flavourings, so I'm not going to get bored! This is going to be one of my breakfast staples now |

@tessie - I suppose you could also try making it with two bananas instead of just one as well if it's not sweet enough. Sounds good. Wish I could eat bananas! |

The fudge was a hit with me and my friend. We both agreed that avocado would be a good sub for banana, and if I ran this through the masticating juicer, it would be good enough to call "ice cream". The possibilities are endless, like using some black bean brownies that were a little stale as a "crust"... |

Wow, some great things to try here. I've been using a lot of the same ingredients to make a chia pudding that I eat for breakfast. I use a couple of Tbsp of almond butter, equal amount of unsweetened cocoa, 2 Tbsp chia seeds, a date or 2 depending on size and whatever fruit is leftover in my frig. Last night it was blueberries and some honeydew melon. I usually use pineapple and/or watermelon chucks. I blend it in a magic bullet with water til relatively smooth and then refrigerate - it's enough for 2 breakfasts. It thickens up overnight. |

Sounds delicious and easy, Jane! It is amazing but just when I will be thinking about making a change in something, someone, even from a different blood type will almost immediately post a wonderful substitute or rearrangement of almost the same ingredients to make an entirely new, tasty meal!! You've posted just what I needed to make this change!! Thanks!! (SWAMI has pushed eggs over to neutral, but I bought some pasteurized ones to use in mayo, and I COULD sneak one into this dish once in a while for the protein. After all, eggs have not been declared a NON-food item for me, thankfully!!) |

I tried the pudding recipe with flaxseed instead of chia seeds and added some sea salt and 100% maple syrup. I used grapes. It tasted amazing - like brownie batter. I liked it better than the fudge. Thanks for sharing the recipe! |

You are welcome. I originally got the idea from Chloe. We all just put our own spin on it and add whatever we have available. |
