Hello ER4YT community. I am from NSW Australia, wife and mum to 3 cherubs and after chasing health issues for some time, have been advised that I would benefit from eating to Blood Type. I am Blood Type A+ and quickly learnt that this is the opposite to the high protein low carb diets I have dabbled in over the years so more than keen to embrace the new but I have to admit...I am completely overwhelmed by it all.
I have bought the ER4YT ebook and also joined this community and FB pages. I am confused by the secretor and SWAMI references I have read. It appears there is no secretor kits available at present...and Im am not sure about the SWAMI aspect am I able to explore that in Australia?
Or should I just KISS (keep it simple silly) and start on the beneficial/neutral foods that A type offers and go from there?
I think i can cook for the family without doing 2 meals by just making larger vegetable based dishes and serving the meat separate (and avoiding those not A type)
Any advice from anyone who remembers starting and wanting badly to make this work would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you. Karen |

Sounds like you are on your way. Slowly and gently--- Might want to know all the kids blood types and work towards getting everyone on board, it will be the greatest thing you ever do for yourself and the kids. So rather then make two meals make one-- bt compliant meal for everyone. |

Karen, You can start slow or jump in with both feet - so to speak... I followed ER for about 2 years before "The Genotype Diet" book was published, then GTD for about 2 years before getting SWAMI Xpress. I prefer SWAMI to either diet because it is so much more personalized and just "fits" better - both my daughter and I are doing better following SWAMI. It can seem overwhelming at first, but the important thing is to eat from the beneficial and neutral lists, while removing the foods on the avoid list. Genotype and SWAMI can wait, or you can do it soon so you only have to change diet once... In Australia, you should get SWAMI from the Au Eat Right site: http://right4yourtypeau.com/swami-xpress-p-342.html |

Welcome! I just wanted to say that I am also an A+ eating the low-carb way, and I made the switch about a month ago. I am feeling pretty good and it is becoming less overwhelming each day. Just stick with it and you will be fine. I did decide to do the SWAMI because I only wanted to change my diet once! I am by no means perfect....and I do remember how long it took me to totally transfer over to a "paleo" way of eating, so I am trying to be gentle with myself and give myself time to adjust, mentally.
Good luck! |

Hi fellow A+ Aussie! Yes we can get swami on line through right4yourtype.nz. I started my journey over two years ago and am still loving it! We can also get the supplements from the above NZ site (Gina is a delight to deal with). I have type O's & A's to feed and as you get to know the beneficials it is quite easy to provide everyone with the best choices. Hope you are surviving this heat ok, we A's tend to wilt easily in extremes! |

Welcome Curious k and fellow A+! I promise it will get easier...just take baby steps one day at a time. Everyone gave you good advice...just as when I began over 6 years ago. I started with BTD, then went to GTD and after a few years finally got my SWAMI. I live with an O- and an O+ yet always make our meals compliant. If we don't have fish, turkey or chicken, its pretty simple... I just don't eat the beef or lamb that they eat. We all share many of the same veggies, salads, fruits and some grains so it is all good...and definitely worth a much healthier lifestyle for everyone! |

As people have posted above you are in the right place at the right time. Allow yourself to learn for you and your family.
There's alot of information here and so many people give freely. Please remember something that has been said many times but you may not have heard it yet.
This bloodtype lifestyle is not a one size fits all. It is individualized. I know you have children who probably have different bloodtypes than your own. But as cajun stated above once you are familiar with what is beneficial, neutral, and avoid you will be able to coordinate your meals to please most everyone.
Please take your time to gather information. You will start to see results at the appropriate time. This lifestyle is not a quick fix. I've been familiar with the bloodtype diet for ten years and I am still learning.
The people are great here as you will quickly learn.
Lots of luck.

This is a good reminder - it is a process, not a destination. It can be good to feel impatient in the beginning because it motivates us to make some major changes. But the process is ever-evolving into greater understanding of our own body and how to work cooperatively with this body we have. |
