It says San Fransisco under your avatar..so living in California was my point about getting vegetarian food and I'm sure the ME restaurants serve more vegetarian options out there.. and ok maybe even in Manhattan where they are bigger...but not where I live. They only have grilled meat on the menu with hummus and steamed vegetables...

Maybe you can ask for a larger portion of hummus & leave a good tip. Most good restaurants should be able to do that.
I know the frustration of not having anything compliant on the menu.  I have gone to Mexican restaurants a few times & asked for 2 portions of pinto beans. The meat is grilled which I don't eat & there is cheese stuck in everything. Then the rice is white only. The tortillas look great, but are corn or wheat!

I am sure I love Mexican because I have lived in SoCal my entire life. Mostly from Sonora. It is the first thing I want when I return from traveling!

I loved the food in France, all over the country but mainly the south.( This is where I had better Italian food than in Italy.. )
Love fish.
The best cod is in western Ireland! The best salmon is in Washington and Oregon!

I have to say my Grandmere's cuisine is my favorite! My "comforts."
She made the best soups, breads, roasted game hens in garlic, and fresh veggies with herbs from her garden. Oh, how I miss her natural culinary talent!  

I agree, GCG....if I want real Cajun I have to go to the bayous!!!

And my grandmother, too, was Good With Garlic.
