I have a good friend who is AB. She does not know her secretor status. I have read the AB food lists in Dr. D's books and it seems like ABs don't have a lot of choices, like I do as an O nonnie. I am glad God made me who I am, but do any of you AB folks have any meal suggestions? Thanks.
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again. Blessings, meribelle

I had to transition from a meat and potatoes, with sides of vegetables, to a vegetables man with random sides of protein (meat or fish), or grain, but more nuts and legumes.
Some meal ideas (more traditional): Turkey, rice and steamed broccoli, a piece of peanut butter, agave and chocolate fudge for dessert.. Grilled Salmon with sweet potato and cole slaw. Tuna steak with sweet potato, carrot, and parsnips baked together. Peanut butter on rice cakes with carrot sticks or cole slaw or other cold vegetable "platter" Bean soup - chock full of vegetables that cook well...
(Less traditional - for me) A serving of nuts, vegetable tray, some fresh fruit for dessert. Steamed vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, etc.) with compliant cheese melted on it with fried rice and a spoon of nut butter...

Is the difficulty in trying to adapt new ingredients to old recipies?
Eliminating chicken, pork, beef, potatoes, and corn is not so daunting if you keeps an open mind about the remaining possibilities. Maybe it's because I'm a fish and turkey eater in the first place, but it seems there are a lot of appealing foods for AB's. Your friend may have to adjust certain expectations about cooking and eating, but the food can be excellent!

Also, if your friend adopts the AB diet, she will soon get used to it. There have been times in my life that I was more vegetarian(but had time to make all that food as my appetite is big) & did apapt to it. I think it worked for good as those were the years there was so much junk added to meat, which I still ate, but less. Now, that I am a meat hound again, we have a source of better beef (Dutch Valley Meats in Arthur, Illinois[Amish Country, not too far from Eastern Ill. Univ.] ). If she likes poultry, have her eat more turkey & slowly add things. Brown rice is good for all types. Eat more of that as a side.
I found that each type has beloved things to give up. For Os, it is often wheat & dairy. I ate little dairy as it bothered me since I was young, but after learning to eat lots of whole grains, I had to give that up! I also miss potatoes. I know Os that love cheese. It makes me cringe, but it is bad for them & they need to change.
Have your friend start slowly, read some BTD books, & get on the forum.
Best wishes to you all!

In summary, for meat your friend should start by cutting out chicken and eating more turkey. Then she can start trying things like lamb, tuna, sardines, and other approved fish. And again, stay away from chicken.
