Hey all,
34 male from South Africa here, and new here.

I've tried Dr D'Adamo's book. And it works

I read a line from his book.
He said something along the lines of.

HIGHLY BENEFICIAL - is a food that acts like a medicine
NEUTRAL - is a food that acts like a food
AVOID - is a food that acts like a poison

My question is, is it good to eat food that acts like a medicine all the time ?
Or should you balance is with food that acts like food ?

What does it mean if a food acts like a medicine and/or as a food ?

I've tried the highly beneficial option only, and i felt fantastic. However, i would like to know more opinions on this.

The answer lies in how healthy you are.  If you are suffering from an illness, it is best to concentrate more fully on the Medicinal foods, even if the diet is somewhat bland.  If you are mostly healthy, then expand the diet to include up to 50% Neutral foods.  We are constantly doing damage to our body, just from environment and exercise, so we want to maintain a good amount of medicinal foods.

Food that acts like a medicine is highly beneficial to your health, it contains substances that your specific bloodtype needs. Neutral foods supply calories and minerals that you might need if there is not a sufficient variety of beneficials available. Avoids contain substances that are harmfull for your specific bloodtype and have no redeeming value. A list of avoids for B's includes chicken, corn, peanuts, lentils, tomatos.

I think the term "medicine" can be a little confusing because it doesn't mean medicine in the Doctor sense.  I think of Beneficial foods as being healing, energizing, balancing, regulating, harmonizing, tonifying and every other good thing that I can imagine food doing.  And it acts like food also because of the array of nutrients that are especially great for our own body.  This is the food that I keep in my house and eat most of the time.

Neutral food acts like food, but that's about all it does.  It's not particularly healing, but it doesn't damage us either.

If I'm out and eating away from home, which rarely happens, I don't hesitate to eat Neutrals if that's what's available.  But after nearly 15 years of eating from Dr. D's programs, my body can tell the difference.  There is such a wide variety of food on the food lists in the top category, I see no danger of any nutritional deficiencies that would force us to eat from the Neutral category unless there is some reason that we just 'want to'.

After a serious illness way back 13 years ago or so, I'm eating and living my life in the best way possible to promote healing, good health and well-being.

"Medicine" in the sense that they nourish your body, give it the tools it needs to heal, and may reduce or eliminate the need for pharmaceutical medicine. These foods won't harm you in any way if you keep eating them; they're not drugs with side effects.

However, eating only "beneficials" can get boring, and people bored with their diets sometimes give up altogether on healthy eating. Including neutrals in your diet helps prevent this boredom and makes the diet more sustainable long-term.
