I have read many inconsistancies between so-called "experts" about whether flax is better for you  or fish oil is. There is the argument about Essential Fatty Acids, omega 3s, etc. Some say flax is better because of the possible pollution contamination in fish oil. Some say flax doesn't have everything that is needed to replace fish oil. What do you think? Have any experience with either/both?

Some people can not convert the ALA in flax into DHA very well and needs the real thing ( fish

Personally I don´t do well on flaxseed oil - and prefer fish oil - especially codliver oil ( diamond for me)
I think you just have to buy high quality clean fish oil or eat some fish

The dosage needed is a lot higher for flax seed oil. This months Consumer's Report magazine tested and rated about 10 different brands of fish oil for purity, strength, and cost. I just thumbed through it at the magazine rack so I don't have it with me.

Fish > Flax

Dr. D'Adamo sells fish oil as part of the Explorer vitamin pack. The conversion probably has something to do with it. Personally I love flaxseed's affect on me (particularly combined with other things).

flax seed oil (organic-ones)  is muchmore potent to fight all kinds of inflammatory issues- even problems with skin can be solved .... fish oils can be contaminated with heavy metals- entre-autre.... and I tested both and saw... flaxseed oil os the one of my choices  and also is recommended as a s.bene for me in my swami ...

I have tried both fish oil and flax. Fish oil seems more helpful for dry eyes. I try to vary the types-- cod liver, krill, etc.
Both are diamonds for me.

Plant sources of omega 3 start out as ALA
Quoted Text
But in real life, studies found that the ALA conversion rate in the body is dismally low. In fact, only about 1% of ALA is converted to EPA and negligible amount is turned into DHA. The conversion of ALA is even lower if your intake of omega-6 fats is high. A more direct and efficient way to boost your levels of long-chain omega-3 fats, as research has found, is by taking EPA and DHA-rich foods or supplements.
from this site. So if you are trying to boost your omega 3 intake, you should eat the recommended fish for your type, and grass fed beef if it's for you.
