I started on the BTD in February this year. Since then I have had a parasite in my bowel which was treated with antibiotics. Before the parasite I was 63kg. When I didn't know about the parasite I began to change my diet to eliviate my stomach problems. I eliminated gluten and dairy and sugar. Once the parasite was found I dropped down to 55kg. Since the antibiotics in march I am now down to 49kg. My blood tests come up normal, I have had an endoscopy and colonoscopy which came back fine except that it showed I'm lactose intolerant. I'm at a loss of what to do. I eat at least 6 times a day but I can't gain any wait. I'm now more bony than I have ever been and drs can't fix it. Any advice out there?! |

Sounds like a gut flora issue--
If you kill the flora with antibiotics you need to rebuild it. Malabsorption? What are you doing to rebuild the flora? |

Thank you. By flora do you mean pro biotics? If so I do take those. Back in march I also had a test to see if I was absorbing vitamins and mineral to which dr said I was?? Even my naturopath can't find anything. She says it will take time but it's been since march and I haven't put anything on!! |

some A's do have a hard time with gaining, but the type of parasite was it.. ?

| When I see other peoples medicines schedule-I am happy to be here taking care of my health I only wish to drop weight more easily-life would be perfection Being 'here' creates understanding. BTD prevents damage from eating avoids. Thanks Dr D & your sups - all support and friendships |

Okay, I'm blood type A+. Ι eat plenty of protein and only tend to eat lamb and avoid beef and veal. I eat lots of veggies, rice, gluten pasta and rice. I have protein shakes. I eat a slice of gluten free bread probably twice a day if not 3. I'm following eat right for your type. The parasite was something like a meoba fragillis which they told me was from contaminated water. I try to eat as much as I can from the neutral food. Oh and I eat lots of pecans. Does that help? |

You will need to revise your diet. Gluten free pasta and bread usually contain avoids, start reading your labels.
Where are the fruits and vegetables? |

Peanut Butter always worked for me. When I eat it regularly, my weight starts to go up. At least 2 heaping tablespoons a day.. Also protein shakes with frozen yogurt (soy yogurt)..(using soy protein powder) Plus nuts... Nuts - almonds, walnuts. Always put weight on me. Don't worry, you'll start gaining again. Your body is just healing from the parasitic attack which screwed up your chemistry. Eat soy yogurt and take the probiotics like Andrea said to restore the balance. I like the Poly Flora for blood type A from the store. |

Hi Penster, you need to recover from the antibiotics, and be sure that the parasite was actually the problem, and in fact that it has gone.
either way, look at something like polyflora for A's and live cell for A's take them in the morning firstthing before a meal with a large glass of filtered water.
I would suggest you stop eating packaged anything including gluten free stuff, they have corn protein and sugars in them which are just as bad as gluten as well as plenty of avoids. who knows what damage has been caused my the various medical procedures
so go really healthy for 3 months to see what a difference it makes. and then ee where you are.
if you are eating grains or nuts - look into soaking and sprouting them.
perhaps put a little more info on our profile lake age ect so we can be more specific with ideas. |

There are gluten-free pastas made of rice that do not contain corn and other avoids. These would be fine for you to eat. |

If I could instill one bit of information in everyone it would be this: almost all food is made up of ingredients (unless you are eating a whole unprocessed food), so make it a habit to read the ingredient labels on everything you pick up. Once you have that habit, you can easily discern if a food is "okay" for your type. |

I'm going to essentially ditto everything everyone else has said in this thread, but try to pull a few things together...
You want to eat gluten-free, but the specific replacement foods still need to be avoid free to not continue to cause digestive issues. To this end, look for the rice pasta, but look at the ingredients to make sure it is only rice, not a base of something else with a little rice in it, etc...
The body needs high protein to heal tissue, and the intestinal lining needs significant healing, for even when a test shows absorption, there can still be significant sub-clinical damage.
To help heal the intestinal damage and rebuild the bacterial balance, we suggest the Polyflora A (for type A) because it contains probiotic strains specific to Type A for maximum benefit. Also, the butyric acid in ghee is very helpful to assist the healing of the intestinal lining. Both of these should be part of your daily routine for some time.
Hopefully, this will "connect" things together a bit for you. Best of health to you! |

Thank you everyone. I will look at making my profile more detailed and look at the different things people have suggested. Unfortunately it seems there is no quick fix! |

No quick fix-- in Dr. D'Adamos new building I think he has like 30 clocks to remind people that healing takes time and that all the gears have to work together. The A diet is not gluten free. Dr. D is very specific about what foods to eat. Many vegetarian's become startchitarians and load up on unhealthy foods. The peanut butter idea is great ( MF is so smart), I think adding a protein shake is a good idea too. But make sure you get a protein powder that is compliant-- Dr. D makes one just for A's. But the gut flora thing-- that is really important. Your ND could not find anything? What sort of testing does that include? |

Thanks I should have become a nurse.. Thanks also for reminding me to buy Protein Powder for A's. I swear, I wasted money on trying so many different brands...most gave me a migraine. I always came back to Dr. D's protein powder..so I just stick with that. It goes down so nice..no stomach ache, no weird side effects.. and best of all no migraine.. PLUS it has prebiotics in it! Thanks guys.
I have a protein shake everyday, it's natural made from peas. My naturopath does vega testing and that's how the parasite was found.
I'm a bit confused thiugh as Andrea you mention that I should nt be gluten free? In my app for the eat right for your blood type it mentions that gluten flour and wheat should be avoided!
I'm at a loss! I don't know where to turn next?? |

It does seem confusing-- but stick with your food lists.
SWAMI will help-- read all your labels.

Avoiding gluten is different from eating packaged gluten-free foods. Many prepared "gluten free" breads, cereals, pastas, cookies, and baking mixes contain all kinds of unhealthy ingredients, such as xanthan gum, potato starch, or carrageenan. Many of these gums and additives are very hard on the GI tract. It's especially important to avoid those additives when you're trying to heal your gut.
It's important to read ingredients carefully. A brown rice pasta (ingredients: brown rice flour) is fine to eat, and may very well say "gluten free" on the label. However, some gluten-free pastas have more than one ingredient, and some of those ingredients may be harmful.
