It might help people if you would give us an idea of what you are eating now, the foods you enjoy, the foods you find difficult to give up, etc.
If you are training hard you might need more calories, I know that sounds counter intuitive. Your body might be holding on for dear life everything it's got because you are training hard. |

Hi You might be one of the folks who does better following the Genotype diet. I'm a person who followed the BTD for more than a decade and lost some weight, but continued to hold some extra pounds. Moving on to the Genotype and then my own personal SWAMI has brought me down to my ideal weight for the first time in my adult life and I couldn't be happier! |

You say you are eating veggies: but the listed foods only seem to include fruit (and bread, protein, fat). If you are not eating things like green beans, romaine lettuce, broccoli, you may need to include some of these in your diet. >Ezekiel 4:9 bread you may want to check the ingredients of your bread to be sure it does not include added gluten, if it does you may not be doing yourself any favor by eating it. |

Too much exercise for an A will keep them from losing increasing cortisol levels-- also too little food.
How much do you have to lose?
Balance your exercise out with some yoga.
did you measure your inches? you may be losing but not realize it.
Big breakfast with veggies and tofu, Dr. D's protein shake?
What Salad dressing do you use?

What salad dressing are you using?
Over exercise for an A will cause the body to be in a state of stress and increase cortisol levels.
Yoga is a much better exercise for A's. Balance your exercise out with some boxing and some yoga. |

What kind of oils are you using? I don't see any fats listed and good fats are important for weight loss. |

You can also call D'Adamo Personalized Nutrition ask for Nancy she will guide you. They do not just sell stuff but have lots of experience with people who are trying to lose weight. I have sent so many people to her-- they all thank me afterwards and say," wish I had called sooner." I would like to see you add a protein powder to your day. Making a shake would be a good choice Dr. D sells a protein powder but you can also use egg white powder without any additives, you can add stuff to make it taste better. People who do not get enough protein do not lose weight. I did not read this whole article but it is clear that it helps. Eating a snack at night that includes protein like a hard boiled egg helps too. http://www.wellnessresources.com/tips/articles/how_protein_helps_weight_loss/ |

I've never seen an A boxer before. Visions of brain damage leading to other complications flash before my eyes just reading this. Once a brain cell is dead, it doesn't come back. It just sits there. But then again, I always stick my neck out in these forums..... |

SORRY IM NEW TO ALL OF THIS WHO IS SWAMI?
He was the stand-in for Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show when Johnny was sick... (no, not really...) SWAMI is a software that customises your blood type diet to the genotype you happen to be. It is extremely important for fine-tuning your life plans with this way of eating. It is especilly important for non-secretors, who are doubly succeptible to certain health issues as the years roll by. |

SO HOW DO I GET TO THIS SWAMI ??
Hi Boxer, are you pacticing Thai Boxing (Muay Thai)? Before your SWAMI or the book, Cook Right for Your Blood Type (This book gives you a 1 month plan of what to eat) arrives. Here are some ideas of how to manage foods for the day. THE PERFECT MEAL. A Perfect Day. Sample Menus to help Make your Meals Work. This is the day you have been waiting for-a day of perfect food combining! Start off with the easiest of all foods to digest- water. You can’t get into trouble with water, unless of course it’s pollute! Drinking a full glass or two of water is the best way to start your day. It flushes out your stomach and digestive tract and gives you a clean start. Pre-Breakfast Drink Next comes what could be your most nutritions meal of the day-a fresh fruit or vegetable juice. Choose your favorite drink of whatever is in season. Carrots, beets, kale, parsley, spinach, and the always seasonal alfalfa sprouts. Or enjoy a fruit drink of fresh squeezed apple, orange, grapefruit, or grapes. You’ll be amazed at how much better these taste compared with the bottled variety. Allow at least 15-20 minutes ofr the juice to leave the stomach before introducing solid food. The Breakfast Good morning! Today we will be serving brown rice cereal sweetened with rice malt. (Alternatively, you could choose any grain cereal such as oatmeal or grits.) Rice malt is maltose, a disaccharide sugar derived from the digestion of rice. It is only mildly sweet. Certainly, if any sugar is going to be compatible with rice cereal, it is rice syrup. If we chew very well and insalivate the rice thoroughly, we can minimize the inhibiting effect that the sweet malt has on the enzyme ptyalin. Want to add raisins, bananas? Yes, they are delicious, but the more sweets you add, the more you compromise the digestion of the starchy rice. But if you feel up to it , just add a small amount. Lunch Now comes the most venerable of all lunch foods-the sandwich. First choose the best bread you can find, preferably from stone ground, organic whole grains with no white flour or alumimum baking powder. (If you are allergic to wheat, choose rice bread or rice cakes.) Next, add lot of sprouts or salad greens, a bit of mustard, a slice of tomato, a pickle, a layer of mayonnaise, add potato chips on the side….RING! RING! Whoa! Food Combining Alarm!.....that’s the conventional recipe. Hold that pickle, tomato, and the mayo. Acid foods like pickles and tomatoes interfere with the digestion of starches like bread. Make a compromise. Since tomato is only mildly acidic, just add one slice of tomato….but perish that pickle! Pickles are cured in vinegar, a very strong acid. Let’s asaume first that you are buying the best quality brand. Mayonnaise is a protein that contains eggs plus saturated oil and vinegar. The addition of mayonnaise contributes several opposing combinations. If you do not want to give it up, smear on a thin layer. Now for the potato chips. Isn’t one starch at a meal enough? Okay, more than one starch is acceptable since starches are not that different or complex. But why must it be potto chips? Chips are deep fried in oil and are largely indigestible sinec the oil has permeated the potato thoroughly, coating all the starch and prohibiting starcyh digestion. Mix the potato chips and any other fried foods even if purchased at a health food store. Alternatively, choose baked potato chips or corn chips or even butter, slice up potatoes and make your own chips. Before Dinner Snack Keep it simple. A fruit, a drink, a smoothie. If you enjoy tea, cinnamon, ginger, and peppermint are all wonderful digestive stimulants to clear the stomach and prepare it for the next meal. Dinner This evening’s menu starts off with a glass of fruit or vegetable juice followed by a salad of fresh greens and vegetables in season. There is a vegetarian main course of cubed tofu sautéed in olive oil, tamari, and a touch of sesame oil, with fresh grated ginger, garlic and sautéed snow pea, green peppers, and Mung bean sprouts. On the side is a bowl of long grain brown rice. No dessert for now. A magnificent combination! A vegetable dish with one protein-tofu. Yes, it includes oils and they complicate the meal. But olive oil is one of the most digestible oils and holds up well under cooking because of its high smoking point. A spot of dark sesame oil is added of flavor. Ginger stimulates digestion in addition to adding its distinctive flavor. The vegetables all stand up well under light cooking, adding texture and nutrition. The meal starts off with a juice cleaning the palate at the beginning of the meal when the most liquids ought to be consumed. Salad comes next and in its proper position in the meal, ahead of the heavier foods. The dessert gets passed over. Just Desserts There is a time and place for everything. After the meal has had a chance to begin digesting, perhaps one plus hours later, a modest dessert can be added. Before adding dessert, the dinner should have exited the stomach or nearly so. If you pick milk and cookies, you are mixing dairy, a starch and a sugar all in one. If you pick lemon-tofu pie, you have wheat in the crust(starch), tofu(protein), a sweetener(even if it is honey), and an acid fruit (lemon) Most desserts are complicated because they usually involve flour, dairy, and a sweetener. The sweetener slows the digestion of the flour and the dairy slows the digestion of everything. If you chose moe fresh or dried fruit instead and had a cup of tea, you would be making a superior food combining decision. But if you choose to have a cookie or a piece of pie, then have it only in small amounts. Take one or two cookies or have a modest slice of pie. You can handle difficult combinations as long as they are in manageable amounts. Remember, the bigger the meal, the less enzymes available for dessert. And Easily digestible combinations Eat these foods together -All Melons -Green Vegetables -All Beans and Peas -All Citrus -Starchy Vegatables -All Bean Sprouts -Apples and Pears -All Salad Greens -All Nuts & Seeds -Peaches & Plums    ried Fruits -Walnuts & Pecans Also, Stomach healer juice: 7 oz. Celery Juice 3 Oz. Cabbage Juice 1 clove Garlic Juiced 1 oz Parsley Juice 1 oz. Aloe Vera Juice |

wanthanee, these foods are not really very good for 'A's, potatoes, tomatoes, all that bread, stone ground whole wheat isn't very good for very many people - I have it as OK on my swami but I still rarely eat it.
I really like my swami BTW, it might be a very good choice for you boxer. |

Hi, I am sorry. I forgot to notice which foods you should avoid. Please eat the right foods for your blood type. The foods I listed were just examples I copied from the book, Food Combining and Digestion. Here is an excerpt from Eat Right for Your Blood Type: http://www.dadamo.com/typebase4/typeindexer.htm |

I would look at the ingredients. If the bread contains added gluten, I would definitely get rid of it.
If it does not contain added gluten, then I would still try to limit the amount of grains in the diet. |

If you cook it too hot you will create problems.
If you stir fry some vegetables to go with the tofu, I think it would be great. |

Gladiatorboxing619,
I'm an A Secretor and I've tried about half a dozen times to incorporate tofu into my diet. In smoothies, cooked it, etc. I have parted ways with it. I'd rather have edamame, the Japanese soy beans, that take a few minutes to cook and are a great snack.
I'm not a bread baker myself but I believe Lola has a good idea. It may be a bit of a challenge to you right now but who knows you could wind up on the Food Network with your own show or as a contestant.
Find an easy recipe and go for it. No bread bakes that long. The reason I am so proactive on this is because even though I don't make my own bread I found a place (too bad you don't live in Florida) run by a German couple that use no additives. The difference in taste is immense. I have introduced people to this bread and they love it. It is millet and flax seed bread. Believe me the bread I get in health food stores pales in comparison to this bread. I keep it in the freezer and take out slices to toast. It keeps for at least three months in the freezer.
Give it a try. You may come up with your own special recipe that is a beneficial for A's and we'll all be asking you for it.

Type A may not eat red meat, but you still can have fish & poultry. I'm sure a little flesh food might move things along. Are you getting enough fat? Avocados might be a good raw source if they are on your list. Also, you might consider alternating days of physical activity. I'm sure a book or someone can suggest what activities to do. Also, there is the secretor vs. non-secretor issue. Maybe you are a "nonnie" & will benefit by that diet. Welcome to this forum. You will find friendly helpful people here!! |

I've never seen an A boxer before. Visions of brain damage leading to other complications flash before my eyes just reading this. Once a brain cell is dead, it doesn't come back. It just sits there. But then again, I always stick my neck out in these forums.....
I suspect he is doing it as a form of exercise and not in a competitive sense. Two different things. |

Tofu Poke with Local Vegetables Take advantage of local produce to ensure the best tasting results! Cut tofu into ¼” cubes. Transfer to a large non-metallic bowl. 2. Add onions, ginger, salt, tamari and sesame oil. Gently toss to combine. 3. Cover bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours but no longer than 4 hours. 4. Add avocado and gently toss to combine. A few squeezes of lemon. Enjoy by itself or on top of rice Enjoy! Yields 4-6 Servings Mock Chicken Tofu Ingredients • 1 block firm tofu • 2-3 Tablespoons olive oil • 2 Tablespoons soy sauce or liquid aminos • 1 teaspoon Spike seasoning • ⅓ cup nutritional yeast Instructions 1. If you're a boxer for exercise, not as a competitive thing, then you may want to adjust your workout schedule. Health-wise, you may do better alternating "intense" exercise days with "gentle" exercises, such as walking and yoga. Over-exercising (along with eating too little) can sometimes interfere with weight loss. Type A's need to be careful not to over-stress themselves. Too much physical stress and/or emotional stress (from bad relationships, poor work environment, etc) raises cortisol, which leads to weight gain/lack of weight loss in A's.
Definitely cut out the Ezekial bread if it has added gluten. 100% whole spelt bread is a good alternative. If you live near a Trader Joe's, you can buy their brand of spelt bread for $2.99 a loaf (unless prices vary regionally; that's what it costs in NY.) I've also seen similar products in health food stores for about $4 or $5 a loaf, but I can't remember the brand names because I never buy them. |

If you are an explorer genotype, some of the A things will slow your metabolism. Cortisol is a hormone all people release in response to stress, so stress reduction is important. Eat plenty if you are burning calories. I eat up to 4000 a day when active, and drink lots of water!! Do cardio exercise some days to supplement your boxing techniques and some soft exercises like qigong to add power and focus to your techniques. |

High heat frying may well be too hot. Sliced or cubed tofu, sprinkled with a bit of Tamari, can be sauteed in a little ghee (low heat). |

Ghee can handle a much higher temp (>400F) than olive oil (350F max), use olive oil as a 'dressing' not as a cooking oil Frying is really not a good choice, sautéing is much better. For weight loss you want aerobic exercises, not anaerobic. Boxing ought to be pretty good. |
