Good morning everyone!  I was wondering if you could share with me your favorite nutrition bar?  I like to have something around that is portable and was wondering what was safe out there, as well as tasted good!  I have tried Dr. D'Adamo's cherry chocolate bars and I like them; however would like to find some local alternatives if possible.

Thank you!

Not sure what B's can eat, but check out LaraBars. They have fruit, nuts, and dates as sweetener.

I keep a baggie with trail mix in my purse, instead of bars. Sometimes the baggie has a mixture of almonds, walnuts, and raisins, other times just almonds and raisins, and sometimes just almonds.

I've bought almonds and raisins at Target when I'd forgotten to refill the baggie in my purse and I got hungry while shopping. I've looked at all the ready-made bars available, and none of them are 100% compliant for me. I do  buy Clif bars and Luna bars for my kids, as they can afford a few "avoids" once in a while, and a Clif bar is better than the junk food they'd otherwise be offered in some situations. Mostly I buy them for sleep-away camp and road trips.

I mentioned bars recently in another thread:

My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant.  Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index.  DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer.

A few years ago, I decided to try making my own "lara bars."  It was Passover and I was looking at many recipes for charoset--a traditional dried fruit and nut condiment. Using the food processor and whatever nuts and dried fruits comply with your particular diet, you should be able to create a pretty good mix. I definitely used dates, dried cranberries, dried apricots, walnuts, coconut and cocoa powder.  Now I realize that the coconut may not have been a good choice for an O. But the result should be good regardless. I pulsed the fruit in the cuisinart, added nuts, pulsed a bit more,  rolled these into balls and then rolled them in cocoa powder.  They got rave reviews.

Sorry not to have specific proportions, but I can't seem to follow recipes or measure exactly.  Almonds would be a good addition.
