I like to snack, i'm a teenager and will be going to college. It's not like I can jut buy a bag of chips being on the BTD, are there any store bought snacks acceptable for Os? I get annoyed with carrots sometimessss. I just want some acceptable munchies! Walnuts taste bitter sometimes, and other nuts cause too much omega 6. Thanks Guys!

Healthy snacks are easy... Chocolate.. ! get used to ever more darker 72% then 80% then 90%...
Fruit... including neutral's...
Berries.. including neutrals..
Cut up bananas for frozen treats
Dried fruits with nuts.. mixed including neutrals..
Nuts: I love pumpkin seeds best.. almonds only here and there always PEELED.
Cut them up for frozen treats : especially banana s
On the other hand.... well there is NO store bought anything that is good for you.. anything with labels on it, is just not included in HEALTH..
but then I would ask/// any idea about your Geno type? O non sec are often Gatherer, Gatherers tend to become weight concerned at about your age or a little later.. hormones do that.. so being careful ahead of time is the easiest way to avoid weight gain..
Questions good to answer.. when you sit down do you feel and look tall sitting at the table (thus maybe having shorter legs)?
Does anyone in your family have weight issues? and even more important, does anyone have Diabetes ll...
If yes you might be Gatherer and as such be prone to weight gain later in life and getting diabetes.. so going low starches would be good.. like eating NOthing white, nor whole wheat..
Eat sweetpotatoe chips or sweet potato fries instead.. if you can not find them in a store make your own.. slice them and place in pan or oven and sloowley dry them out.. same with pineapple slices.. delish
When I see other peoples medicines schedule-I am happy to be here taking care of my health I only wish to drop weight more easily-life would be perfectionBeing 'here' creates understanding. BTD prevents damage from eating avoids. Thanks Dr D & your sups - all support and friendships

I'm going to college, I can't jusr "cook" a snack, it defeats the purpose of a quick snack. And no, I have the fastest metabolism, skinny, tall, I actually model when I get the chance. That's probably why I have such awful digestion now, cause I took my awesome metabolism for granted, eating loads of sweets and anything bad for me when I was younger.
I love chocolate too!!! Who doesn't!!! I actually found these rice milk candy bars, but one of them had carrangeean (Irish moss) in it, It was marvelous, but I guess I won't be eating those anymore, cause it's on the avoid list.

For me its chocolate.. or choc icecream, full cream not milk! No matter what for nor when.. it has the fat I need and it is available.. I grew up in chocolate country.. It is emotional satisfying and physically pleasing..
It has stuff in it but .. that is life.. Happy eating..
Yes cooking is on issue, tell me what foods you would like de-hydrated and I will send you some.. just in support of heavy load studies
Do the best you can and I am happy for you not to be gatherer.. makes a world of differences..
Happy modeling..
Look around there where other threads here about O snacks .. maybe someone will pipe in and give you a link.. It is a question that comes up every so often.. we O's struggle with snacks.

YOU'RE SO SWEET!! I think anyone could be gatherer, but it is time consuming! My biggest challenge will be staying 100% BTD compliant while in college, cause the way I eat makes me self-conscious. Most of my friends accept me at home, but at college they will just look at me and be like...eat salad or starv, crazy health nut girl.
Oh my gosh! If you send my care packages of snacks, I will love you fore ver!
If you really want crunch, there are some rice crackers that are very crisp. Check the ingredients -- some have non-compliant oils in them.
Good luck!
My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant. Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index. DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer.

Check out Trader Joe's. They have these seaweed snacks that are fine for O secretors (they use canola oil) but not for O nonnies. They're light and crispy like potato chips, come in single-serving packages, and are shelf stable, so you could buy a case and keep them in your dorm room. They also sell sweet potato chips. No, they're not perfect for O nonnies, but still a better choice than potato or corn chips or pretzels! Since you do OK on that sugar-containing sorbet, you may do OK on snacks made with canola oil.
I've seen ready-made kale chips at health food stores, but didn't buy them because they were too expensive and not 100% compliant. In your situation, having some "mostly compliant" snacks on hand is probably necessary to keep you away from avoid snacks AND to keep you feeling happy and satisfied rather than deprived. It may take some trial and error to figure out which "avoids" you can tolerate and which ones you react to.

I do not know the arrangements of your dorm/food plan at your school.
You may want to explore what snack option the school provides.
At my school the rules allow students to take a piece of fruit with them for a snack later any time they leave the dining halls. (It is an official rule so it is not theft)
This would seem to me to take care of most snack needs.
The students run their own coffee shop at my school for snacks. Some snacks are healthy there, but many are not. Students can request whatever, and the business students who manage the shop determine what is offered. But all one needs to do is to have convincing plan saying that things would sell.
So at my school the coffee shop offerings include teas (including iced teas bottled by our students), all the standard coffee drinks, smoothies, baked oatmeal, some products made by local shops. Offerings change over time.
My favourite snacks are halva and macadamia nuts. Macadamias are good because you don't need to pre-soak them, so they can be eaten out of the packet. They're also one of the tastest nuts-very high in fat, therefore filling. I don't know if you can get hold of halva in the U.S, but that is also very high calorie-made from crushed sesame seeds.
I also do baking for snacks, but I like to have 'easy' snacks too, that can be easily transported-already in a packet. Dark chocolate is always good as people already mentioned. I am in love with the vanoffee raw chocolate bars, made by the raw chocolate company-they use coconut sugar rather then cane as sweetner, so it doesn't crash your blood sugar. That is a UK company though, don't think you could get it in the US.

The halvah sold in the US is generally made with sugar and/or corn syrup. You can get tahini, sesame seed paste, which is 100% pure sesame seeds, but that isn't finger food the way halvah is. It's really more of an ingredient than it is a food on its own.
But since tolondontoparis has mentioned doing OK on a sugar-containing sorbet, she may do well with a halvah made with sugar (and NOT HFCS) if she can find one.

When I was in graduate school, I just planned everything out. Cut up veggies with almond butter, nuts, Dr D bars, homemade kale and sweet pot chips...
I can relate about the time issue, I am starting my program in the Fall, and I need to get back on this regimen. It actually helps me to have the structure in my eating as well. YOu will do great if you want to stay healthy during school.
I also noticed that I felt a ton better and more "focused on my academics" when I was compliant.

someone just suggested that : Why do you eat just because it is in front of you?
What on idea.. I never thought of such on idea .. what a philosophy??? i
I am at wits end.. so NOT to eat? just make up my mind? what ? is this even English?
I mean BTD allows for much food and snacking.. UNHEARD OF what on idea..
But then....... could it be possible? I mean could it be not only about com pliancy, but about NOT eating?
BTD said the opposite and I HEARD that! I eat.. when I see it, I eat when I feel it, I eat .. and even while compliant might I have looked at eating the wrong way?
I mean what is this.. eating is fun, its allowed, it's even suggested.. so what is this idea about NOT eating?
I am so perplexed ...
So what is this idea? It is NEW to me.. shout it from the rooftop.. it is new to me..
Even on diets of dropping weight, I always snacked.. a little but not having something is just unheard of.. my mind does not compute!!! I would be sticking out my tongue just from wanting.. I mean ... I would become angry?? I used to be mean when hungry, or when going into situations of great stress when hungry.. not good..
Now I am supposed to not eat?? when?? why?? --- just because others can do that?
Stressed reads dessert backward.. stress is not for me, the idea of not eating would stress me if I did not just have some food, including half a avocado and half a grapefruit .. nice and fatty... so I am calm... calm? yes I am calm.. but consternated.. ! big time.. what on idea not eating!!
A friend was that? .. ha.. what a friend.. but then he stands by me and all my ideas.. so should I listen?? should I hear this suggestion.. BUT how to execute this brand new idea.. ??
Like AA that suggests: you just stop drinking alcohol.. so now it's just stop SNACKING???
Wow I am flubbered.. or is that flabbixed.. I lost 1.5 inches off my waist .. so now I am smaller in my waist as opposed to the same inches on my hips.. nice.. My eating dieting has paid off.. I have not had a waist for a long long time.. so something I ma doing is working.. its HGC drops that is for sure,// but that is another story.. so here it is about BTD and Swami, and portion sizes.. I am afraid I will be hungry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So are there snacks without calories? ha not only meat.. maybe I need to make jerky.. or am I jerky? oh what fun this dieting is..
I need that new Swami adaptation.. maybe it will give me more clues.. on not being so much of Gatherer..! could it be since I am 42 percent Gatherer.. what are the other 52 % I wonder.....?
oh well this time i did the math at least..
I wonder if I could hear this -way above- suggestion because I am doing Trehalose Complex? is it cleaning out old cobwebs? or the acoustics where clearer in the pool? or the rain cleaned out old believe systems?? I have no idea.. but life has taken a turn.. 'I' need to think about this.,.

Goldie, i loved your post. keep an open mind about what your friend said. you can CHOOSE to eat or NOT to eat. that is MY new philosophy. Someone had mentioned Intermittent fasting on a board a while back and so i have been dabbling in that (in conjunction with GTD). I felt like i was out of control with the snacking. i was snacking all the time (compliantly) and still always, painfully hungry. now, i'm "embracing" the hunger pangs. I'm not going to keel over and die if i do not eat. Once you decide to be at peace with the decision to not eat, it gets easier. different strokes for different folks!

wow another such decision ... good for you..
I will think about it.. its a whole re-do of my brain.. I mean it.. really re- do.. all wired wrongly..
how do you cope? where you hungry before ? how is hunger showing itself in you?

Yes, i was hungry before. always hungry! This is my second go-round. I did it earlier this year for about 2 months. at first it was easy and then it got hard and then i gave up and started eating more "normally". I was able to lose about 15 lbs over those 2 months. I feel like lately i backtracked back into snacking constantly and i would race in the door after work and gobble everything in site--this is with constant snacking. So, this past monday i started again with the fasting. I find that i feel clearer headed and i am hungry, but not the growling pangs, and if i keep busy, it goes away quickly and i forget about it. I also break my fast about an hour before i leave work, so by the time i get home and the chaos of having 4 kids hits, i am full and able to focus on my kids needs instead of being desperate to eat something. i'm also drinking more liquids which is good beacuse i don't typically drink enough.

I snack a lot on diced prunes, pumpkin seeds and walnuts that I mix together in a zip lock bag. It is easy to take along with me on my job. I eat a lot of celery and carrots and they go good with my "mix". Good Luck!
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again. Blessings, meribelle

Store bought plain rice crackers (check ingredients)and compliant cheese got me through all last year's classes, as well as chopped watermelon. I have adjusted my Swami and now I can have avocado (yay!!)so for the rest of the year's classes, I am going to have rice cakes (organic and completely compliant) with some mashed avocado, or some premade guacamole. Also the rice cakes taste fine with store bought almond butter, which I can get here with chia seeds - all bennies for me!

Type O's sometimes just need to munch because their bodies are needing meat protein. It's ideal if you could dehydrate your own jerky, but if that isn't possible, you might compromise with something like Tonka Bar. They are a staple for my daughter, whose days at school can be very long.

I am going to eat more meat, even if it is walmart brand and probs going to destroy my gut flora!! I need meat! I do like to munch, a lot! But i love protein!
