I'm a B nonie and my wife is 0 secretor. Would like to know where we stand when it comes to ketchup and mayonaise. These items are not listed on the TYPEbase list. Can I rely on the 1996 book values? |

Because these two foods are "composite" foods, you need to look at ingredients for each product to find the rating... If you can find a product where all of the ingredients are OK for you, then it is OK. |

I think it "depends." The organic ketchup you can find at places like Whole Foods isn't too bad. Right off the shelf Heinz at a regular grocery store is filled with corn syrup.
Same thing with mayo. Some people make small batches from scratch with compliant ingredients. Some of us use the purest we are able to buy. It depends on what level of compliance you are comfortable with and your general state of health. I buy "Lemonaise" from Ojai foods which I buy at Whole Foods. It has some avoids but isn't too bad. If you are a B, most likely ketchup is out for you because of the tomato and store bought mayo usually has soy oil which isn't really good for anyone. perhaps some is non GMO and organic or made with canola oil which would at least be the better of the evils but I prefer to make my own with olive oil. I stay clear of soy anything as an O for the estrogenic reasons. |

Actually if you are a B nonnie or a Gatherer tomato is allowed. Not if you are a Nomad pr a B secretor of course. The HFCS is a deal breaker in any case. Back when I was just a Bnonnie I prefered salsa or picante instead of ketchup. |

No the newest BTD values can be found in the Typebase on this site. If an item isn't listed then you have to check the individual ingredients from the label. |
