I want to get a food intolerance test, but my doctor said I need a valid reason rather than just wanting one (I despiseee her!), I also need the name of the specific test I want. Does anyone have any suggestions so that my doctor will finally let me get this! I need it before I go to college, and before I turn 19 on the 9th because then my insurance won't cover it anymore! Thank You!
Cause I feel as if my leaky gut or system is at the stage where everything can cause a reaction and I'm just not sure anymore. It just stresses me out. I'm sure even rice causes these skin problems, and my BTD says it should be okay. |

There are a number of tests for food intolerance and allergies... It depends on who you talk to as to how accurate the individual tests are. After having been through several different tests / treatments and had very little positive results(until I found out about Dr. D.), I know you would be far better off to stop pinning hopes on a Dr. that isn't willing to help you and focus on finding the money to get to the UB clinic.

It is possible that you will continue to have these reactions from eating good foods as they provide the energy for the body to clear the toxins present in the body. This may go on for some period of time before it is fully cleaned out. You can't stop eating everything that is healing or you'll always remain at the current level of health or get worse. A certain amount of this is going to have to be taken on faith that it will get better as long as you follow the plan. It sounds like you are looking for the best plan(for the least cost - both time and money), and that is to get to the UB. |

You will need to get the names if the covered tests from your insurance company since there are many tests and they will probably only cover specific ones. I do not know your insurance company, but in my experience the tests insurance companies will cover in this area are often not helpful. Do not expect the results to agree with GenoType diet or Blood Type Diet, since they are not testing the same things as are used to determine food recommendations in these diets. Also if you get multiple tests do not expect them to agree with each other for the same reason. Common test covered by insurance companies: Usually covered: Immunoglobulin G (IgG) (There are variants that cover different number foods) Immunoglobulin E (IgE) (There are variants that cover different number foods) Some other intolerance tests that may or may not get covered: Sage Medical Laboratory Antigen Test Biotrition test ALCAT NAET You may want to use other test than food intolerance testing to deal with digestive issues. These include: Breath Hydrogen Amino Acids Urine test Organic Acids test --------------------------------------------------------- One of the most effective tests in discovering food intolerances can be done for free. This is the elimination diet. There are a number of variationa on elimination diets, but here is an overview of the concept: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elimination_diet |

YAY! That is so reasuing! I think that if I eat only beneficial foods for a great while and take my probiotics, L-Glutamine, and keep positive that nothing can possibly get worse for long, only better. Few! That is reassuring. I don't have any proof of these intolerances, no documentation, do I don't think my college will help me if I don't. That's really the main reason. Because this way they will make sure not to put these ingredients in things, cause I will surely die being an athlete and only eating salads. |

You did not ask about this. And so feel free to ignore my unsolicited, off topic, and uninformed comments. In another thread you indicated you had a lot more health issues that other family members or friends. If this is the case than you probably want to exercise the option to stay on your parent's insurance policy until you are 26. You also note that you will be a student in the Fall, a number of schools require you be on your parent's health policy or buy your own health insurance-which is often a more expensive option. |

Thanks for your concern! I am actually going to be covered by the universities health insurance, which is cheaper! I sorted this all out!

Dr. Stever Nenninger is in Port Jefferson, NY he does the iGg testing. He is a friend of Dr. D'Adamo. I am of the opinion if it was a valid test Dr. D'Adamo would be be using it with his patients. He has access to all sorts of tests-- but choses to do breath hydrogen, secretor testing and bioimpedance. |

With the new law coming into effect, you may be covered until 26, on your parents insurance.
If a father or mother is required to have you on your policy until 18 (child support etc) I believe if going to college, it may be extended. |

I'd consider a new doctor... I understand when doctors refuse medication because a person doesn't need it - or in extreme cases surgery - but there is no reason not to IgG/+IgE. Even if you avoid all of it, you may come back to some things that are SWAMI/BTD appropriate after healing and see if they work for you.

Go to a Naturopathic Doctor. They will do the testing if you request it. |

http://foodallergies.about.com/od/foodallergybasics/a/big_eight_fa.htmAllergies, sensitivities, and intolerances share enough that this might be helpful. Coming off a fast, I realized I was reacting to eggs and dairy. I know they are not going to be lifelong avoids for me, and I have small amounts of dairy occassionally when it is in something but I am feeling much better by avoiding cheese. Butter and ghee don't bother me. My guess is that the wheat issue was tied into the dairy issue. I read enough of the beginning of this book to say it is probably a good one to check out and I think I will buy it instead of trying to get it back from the library... http://www.amazon.com/Digestiv.....s=digestive+wellness |

Osteopaths are also likely to be cause oriented and at least respect the role that food plays in health. |

Nancy Ellen is correct! Go to a natural doctor and they will request the tests you want done. That is what I finally did! |
