Hi, well, this is my first post !
I have only been on the Blood Type Diet for about 4-5 days now, and I'm feeling quite a bit better. I'm a Blood Type A+ and was eating like an O..
OK, so I have this concern about Soy. I don't mind eating it instead of meat, but I always thought that Soy contain Estrogen ? For the last several years I was Estrogen dominant, and recently I did some really hard work at Megasupplementation to get to a point where I am really high Progesterone/DHEA. So, I'm a little scared at what this might due to my great levels? I tried searching the Internet, but I don't feel confident, answers are either one way or the other...
Can someone please help explain Soy to me ? I figure that since Dr. D'Adamo is an A, and HE eats Soy it must be fine.. but still ?
Hi, Candace! Welcome! I am using the SWAMI diet and on this one I hardly have any soy even as a neutral. I would concentrate on the other proteins, for now, as gulfcoastguy suggested, and you will be just fine!

Hi Candace! I agree with Spring. There are so many veggie proteins that I don't eat soy, even though my swami gives me soy flour, soybean tofu, soybean meal, soybean pasta, and tempeh...all are diamonds! I cannot stomach any of it!!! The only soy I ingest is a small amount of soy milk, sometimes in my coffee or I will eat small handfuls of roasted soy nuts. I do fine with my nuts, nut butters, lots of beans, rice, lentils and peas. I am not afraid to eat it, I just hate the texture and taste! I enjoy all the other foods that swami gives me!

In general, soy acts as a very weak estrogen in As and ABs, and a very strong phyto-estrogen in Os and Bs. But there are still exceptions. Some A's don't do so well on soy, while others do great on it.
Also, keep portion sizes in mind. Nobody should be using soy for all of their protein intake- it should be one food of many. You shouldn't have a soy protien shake for breakfast, tofu for lunch, and then tempeh for dinner every day. A couple of ounces of soymilk in your morning coffee, plus tamari for flavoring, and tofu or tempeh a few times a week, should be fine. Plus, as others have mentioned, there are other beans and nuts plus poultry, so there's no reason to *need* soy if you'd prefer not to eat it.
Also watch out for the quality of soy you consume. GMO soy is bad news, and generally you need to buy organic to avoid that. Plus watch out for weird additives in processed soy products. All-natural soy milks do exist, but there are many more varieties of soymilk that contain unhealthy ingredients, so read labels carefully. NOBODY should be eating those highly processed "fake meat" products make from isolated soy protein.

Eat soy everyday in the form of tofu. I do want to say that Dr. D does not tell us to eat soy but he does say tofu and Tempeh. Not all soy products are the same. I eat the organic non gmo types.

Thank you for all your replies. Much appreciated! As I wrote in another post I'm a bit late in reply because I have adrenal burnout and can't do much of anything. IN any case all the enlightment about soy/tofu makes complete sense and I feel much better about the issue! I have also purchased the SWAMI software and am excited to find more in depth as to what I should eat!
