I take 1300 mg of calcium and normally because of our natural lifestyle here in Philippines I ate almost 15 to 17 cups rice a day. Which I`m still thinking if it is just fine or not, Because it contains sufficient magnesium. And I`ve done some research about Absorbtion of Calciumm, Magnesium and vitamin D. So I decided to shower at noon within 4:00 to 5:30 pm for 20 minutes.
Then most of the time I quickly take a bath. What would you say about vitamin D is lost after taking a bath after you shower on the sun? Many sites are telling about it. If so would it be enough to relax and cooldown for a while before you take a bath?
Recently I found some products that is already combined. Its a tablet that contains Calcium, magnesium and Vitamin D3 +zinc at the same time. But I`m worried about this product.

A lot of people say you should not wash the areas that were exposed to the sun for 24-48 hrs after... Maybe you could have a wash instead? There is a thread if you do a search, where this is discussed
That is a lot of rice 15-17 cups??!! As far as the amount of magnesium - it would depend on the levels of magnesium the rice absorbs as it is growing & magnesium is only in brown rice?!

It`s a white rice. I think its just normal here. Because I think it`s been done for ages here.
We only eat white rice. And it has less magnesium. But not that less.
Thank you for your post.

Amount of rice also depends on whether you are Gatherer (thrifty gene) type of hunter type, for example. If the space between your upper legs is wide, the amount of rice is no problem.
A friend of mine bought me " Men's tables" several vitamins and minerals combined and decided to take them. After consuming them for a week or so, I see flareup in my gout problem. So I have now stopped taking it though I do not fully understand how it might flareup my gout. One thing I noticed though is that it contains significant amount of folic acid (iron?) and more iron in the blood (vis-a-vis copper) increased uric acid level and thus gout. So,,,?

15 cups of rice is a LOT! I usually make 3 cups of rice for my whole family for dinner (1.5 cups of raw rice, cooked to 3 cups.) Are we talking about the same thing when we say "cup"- 8 fluid ounces, which is 250 milliliters? 15-17 cups comes to about 4 liters. I can imagine eating that volume of greens per day, but not of grains!
Then again, I'm not sure just how big Marc is, how active he is, or whether or not he's done growing. If he's 12 feet tall, then he might need that many grains.

I think you misunderstood me. And this is why. In our family before we cook 30 ounces of uncooked rice on the rice cooker it is not yet puff up by the water. After 10 to 15 minutes the water puff up the rice so it expanded filling up the rice cooker. Thats the rice I eat the cook one. Which A single rice cooker contains 10 cups or less I think. But we family share eating it.
And I eat 15 cups of rice through the day. The standard size our cup the we use is 8 ounces

That shows how we're all different. I couldn't thrive on that much grain- I'd gain weight and experience blood sugar swings. Many O's would fare as poorly as me on a high-grain diet.
But this clearly works for you, so don't worry about what others are doing.

People here have always been astounded at how much rice Asians can eat and stay so slim. The biggest question a lot of people have is, "Where under the sun do they put all that rice? They are so slim!!"

I have not eaten 15 cups of rice in 5 years year.. I fall asleep after eating it.. I also get feeling full fast, then get bloated, and later I am triggered / hungry for more carbs.. No good for me at all being O.
As for Magnesium, I have been taking Milk of Magnesia to deal with muscle tension headaches during the last 10 days to 2 weeks.. My doctor advised that form of magnesium as it is not easily absorbed. He also advised that I would be having bathroom issues, but I was willing to risk that gladley..... Interesting, iIt took all this time for me to see any differences in my bowel movement. Today I succeeded to be 'normal' for the first time in years. I must have a need for 'some' magnesium which I never knew before.
Thanks for this thread on Calcium and Magnesium.. I have taken that combination before, but it did not help at all, now I know why.
When I see other peoples medicines schedule-I am happy to be here taking care of my health I only wish to drop weight more easily-life would be perfectionBeing 'here' creates understanding. BTD prevents damage from eating avoids. Thanks Dr D & your sups - all support and friendships
I eat meat to but I`m feel more better eating fish.
Maybe because Asians adopted to rice. Since it was one of there diet for centuries.
Actually not all asians are slim and Not all of them eat like me. There are few people I know that eats like me. Most people I know here eat rice through the day. Maybe 3 cups per meal. Some are just like you guys who goes slow down on carbs.
