Well, I am an O, and do crave meat at times, and ever since doing the BTD, I have had more energy and such, but I would eat a jar of almond butter a week, and would eat red meat everyday. Is this bad? I heard too much protein is tough on the liver. and my skin is breaking out on my cheeks and under my neck. Should I just cut back and listen to my body for when it wants some meat? I think I am over feeding it.

How long have you been doing BTD? You could be having some kind of a "detox" reaction because you're giving your body the nourishment it needs. That's likely if you're fairly new to the diet.

OTOH, you may have needed lots of meat at first to make up for "underfeeding" in the past, and your current needs may be lower. Make sure you're getting plenty of vegetables and modest amounts of fruits and grains. Also make sure you're getting enough fish and some poultry.

It can't hurt to listen to your body. If you feel like you don't need meat right now, then cut back a little and see how it makes you feel.

Wow! You are fast! And, I take cod liver oils, daily to balance omega 6s, and I eat chicken sometimes. I moreso have been just snacking on meat when I feel like eating, they are like my pastries! ha! I will, try and cut back on my meat consumption from every-day, I'm going to eat more salads, with homemade sesame oil dressing, and the only grain I eat is brown rice

Maybe have "normal portions" of meat with meals, but look for veggies at snacktime instead of meat?

good idea! I am backing away from all nuts and seeds really! Just some olive oil, sesame oil, and cod liver oil. Normal protein consumption. Perhaps my body is just detoxing the extra fat. Don't think my liver is top notch yet, and I haven't been eliminating normally.

a jar of almond butter a week,   I would not.. almonds made me reflux..

I eat plenty of meat PROPORTIONALLY to my veggies.. I eat 3 - 10 oz depending on hunger or what I ate the meal before or after... .. twice a day.. top round very lean ..

I have one or two eggs for breakfast.. I should do only one/ I just eat two out of a dumb habit..

the rest of the day is fruit, sliced thin, or small pieces of chocolate, a spoon full of walnuts..

I cheat with some foods.. about 5% of all food intake.

The meat issue is like this.. better I eat meat instead of all the other stuff .. but veggies are important also..

(I don't eat dairy, grains, no beans other then a can of peas once in a while..  I eat nothing white.. ) or I gain big time..

I should do much more Olive oil.. more salad dressing that is compliant,..

Is Cod liver oil an avoid for you? It is for me on swami.

I use Dr D's fish oils which is sardine oil, I think.

Also Perhaps use white rice too. I believe less and less in the Whole grain being good for anyone.

Do you soak your brown rice? I soak mine for 24 hours then germinate it for 24 hours and then ferment it for 24 hours before cooking it.

I am concentrating on the liver at the moment and too much meat seems to be not so good - Dr D's portion size and frequency take this into account  portion being about 4 oz and some O's only getting 3 of then a week for red meat. you do get other protein like poultry and fish but if your having beef every day and perhaps a lot of it then depending on your geno type it might be too much.

how are your teeth? if not great perhaps try more bone soup etc.

Reduce the frequency of red meats and eat poultry and other types of meat on other days and see how it works.

I am not O, but explorers do not have quite as high of a red meat allowance as a hunter or gatherer.

Explorers have more food variety than hunters and gatherers though, and it can take more tweaking to get it right.

try more fish. Lots of us O's get more fish than red meat with SWAMI. Chances are if your gut tells you you're over doing it, you are. I did great on BT, then I started eating alot more red meat and things declined. Then I switched it out for mostly fish and I am so much better. When my body says it wants red meat, I certainly give it to it but it's not too often that it wants it. Then I eat it in small portions and I'm good to go. It does tend to bog me down if I'm not craving it. I was also over eating protein in general, according to my body, not SWAMI.

Thanks guys! I will certainly listen to my body more! Plus, I used to love tuna, but I will have to home-make my mayo, as commercial mayos have terrible avoids in them. Other fish is expensive

tuna is needing to be white.. or it is contaminated/  old fish

actually instead of making mayo.. ( I use it to cover the taste of fish).. maybe we both could just find some other tasty oils??

any ideas here from anyone??

could we just boil on egg and cool it then put in the blender * with a little olive oil?? I wonder..

* I have a magic bullet makes one portion at a time, no waste, no cleanup of a big blender..

** i egg portion could be mixed by hand also.. I think..

I buy the yellowfin tuna in olive oil, and don't add mayo at all. I just add lemon juice and spices, and sometimes chopped red onion as well. Busy days I'll just add lemon juice and nothing else.
