Hi Fellow Dieters,

I am 28 year old male weighing 130kg. I just quit smoking, almost 60 days.
I think its time for a healthier lifestyle; so tired of carrying that extra weight around, and its time to enjoy life, find my lady, and maybe have kids...


Hoping someone on this forum would be my mentor, and guide me through this diet.

I purchased everything:
Type B supplements
Shakes
Proberry
The 3 books
and Unibar

I also ordered the Gynotyping Kit, SWAMI express, and secretor kit... should have them in 2 weeks.

Usually people start with one of the book diets, and work their way from there. Since you've already ordered SWAMI you might want to have a look at er4yt and start by eliminating biggest avoids and making sure you stock up on bennies.

Starting with the SWAMI is wonderful!

The books give the you the background to understand some of the why's and how's. The SWAMI will be your personal diet rather than one or another book version.

It can be a bit like getting into a swimming pool. Some like to dive right in and others prefer to immerse themselves gradually.

Welcome! You will find more than one mentor here on these boards. Swami is wonderful. I'm an "all-or-nothing" type, so I dove right in. It was scary at first, I felt like there wasn't anything I could eat - so not true! After years of eating this way it is very easy.

I dove right in, also. So glad I did. I have all the books, did all the tests, am following Swami. Congratulations for quitting smoking. You can do it long term!!!! I gave up cola drinks, which I was totally addicted to, one year and four months ago tomorrow. Yeah, us!

Welcome, Welcome, SuperB!!    I love meeting people who are willing to really dive into this way of eating and living because they are giving themselves a fantastic chance to receive the highest benefits!  

It's great that you have already ordered the tests and the SWAMI.  Until you know your secretor status, just start eating from the type B food list - with the understanding that you'll need to be flexible and adjust that list as you get more and more information about yourself.  

Do your Secretor test as soon as you receive it, and send it off.  That is an important part of the picture and also helps you with working through your Genotype materials.

Meanwhile, you can start reading Dr. D's books.  ER4YT is the foundation that all this has evolved from.  It will give you a good overview of what this way of thinking is all about.  The book was sort of pre-secretor test.

LR4YT is the next level of eating for your blood type, and is the one that I consider the blood type guide book.  Especially since I am a non-secretor, I really appreciate the way he addresses those differences in food choices.  This book offers guidance in lifestyle, exercise and supplement choices.  It has more up to date food lists than ER4YT also.

You can safely work from that level while you familiarize yourself with what the Genotype diet is.  (more individualized)  Don't try and follow the BTD and the GTD at the same time.  It will be confusing and counter-productive.  They are different programs.

You're going to have lots of support here.  There are dozens of aunties and uncles who love to participate in mentoring.    The more you post about your adventures and questions, the more input we can give you.

Hi Everyone,

So sorry   I haven't been here for a long time. Thank you all for your responses.
On the bright side, I think I made new friends here. I am really happy for all the encouragement.

Its been 7 Month since I had my last Cigarette  YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY  

Been having sleep issues from Apnea. So went through some tests. The Doctor recommends I wear oxygen mask while sleeping        So, its time to make room for my lungs, lose the fat, and get in shape.

Anyway, I stopped eating chicken and corn (and all the avoids). I need to lose the extra weight, otherwise this would be all for nothing. Please support me on my journey.

I finished reading the first book and I am starting “REALLY” the dieting today.

Test Results:
- I am B+, Secretor, Gatherer (I may have messed up in filling SWAMI correctly)

My typical eating schedule:

9:00 am (breakfast)
1:00 pm (Lunch)
7:00 pm (Dinner)
(my dinner is only one serving BTD Shake with milk/banana or Papaya)

I am having problem with figuring out which vitamins to take and on what time. I have so many which makes me confused… will feel sorry if they go bad too. See the list below. And please recommend by matching the vitamins to the eating schedule above. Most of the vitamins recommend 2-3 times daily, but I only intend to take them once daily (I prefer to have the rest of the nutrition from fresh fruits and vegetables).

The list:
Polyvite B (multivitamin formula) – can be taken with food
Phytocal B (sea-based mineral formula) – can be taken with food
Polyflora B (probiotic formula) – taken away from food
Live Cell B/AB (sprouted foods complex) – taken away from food
Nitricycle - Does not say with food or without
Deflect B (lectin-blocking formula) (will take only on a cheat day)

I can attest to taking a lot of supps lately, too, and I take some of these.

First off, my tummy doesn't like taking multi vits on an empty stomach, so I take them with breakfast (if I don't do that at the beginning of my day, I "forget" at subsequent meals).

Deflect and Polyflora, I take those right before bed, on an empty stomach. Deflect, taken on an empty stomach, will affect lectins ingested in the past, whereas Deflect taken with food will affect lectins eaten currently. Make sense?

I might also take the Live Cell right before bed (since I know my stomach will be empty, as I make a best effort to stop eating by 7:30pm, and go to bed by 10:30p), but make sure that it plays well with the Polyflora...

And a big for quitting smoking! Quitting is not for sissies! It took me three times to finally kick the nasty habit.

I am worried about the drug interactions. I just wish a specialist answers those questions here. I did take the multivitamins and minerals together.

The other 4 seem like they should be recommended by a specialist.

I will take another look at SWAMI soon. I think mostly the parts I made mistakes are the finger prints, measurements, and teeth.

As a Gatherer, you need to make sure you're eating enough food, or your body will go into "starvation mode" and hang onto that excess weight. It's a delicate balance- too much food and you'll fail to lose and possibly even gain weight, but too little  food and you'll plateau. What you need to do is eat "just the right amount" of food, which isn't always easy.

I'm worried that your dinner may not be large enough to sustain you and support weight loss- but since you didn't post the rest of your meals, I could be off-base here. If you're eating enough at breakfast and lunch, then the small dinner may be fine.

Also, are you exercising? I've found that the weight will NOT come off if I'm sedentary. Even a small amount of walking daily gets the scale moving down, and I expect that I'll need to exercise even more as I get closer to goal.

You might start running low on energy with the 3 meal a day routine.  In-between meals I may eat rice cake, nuts, Cassava chips, fruit, frozen yogurt or carrots.  With the chips, yogurt & nuts I’m careful to only have 1 serving.  It depends on my activity level how much and what in-between meal snacking I do.  You have to balance your activity level with your food level.  Exercise is a must to lose weight and tighten up the skin that will be sagging if you lose too fast.  Slow and steady is the best way to eventually reach your goal and keep the weight there.

I'm 130 kg

Typical day is about (1500 calories)

Breakfast: 2 eggs with parsley
Lunch: stir-fry with mutton or turkey breast
Dinner: Banana shake with protein and milk

No More Sodas (high fructose corn syrup), I drink herbals, chamomile, coffee, etc no sugar. Only 2-3 packets of sweetener per day.

I know my body requires more calories, but I find it hard to snack on something when I have to take the supplements which require an empty stomach. So I am spreading my supplements throughout the day cause I am worried about drug interactions if taken together.



I will start exercising next week, I will have to bring up the calories up to (1800) or so I guess. So to the above food sample, I will add something like cottage cheese with pineapple to breakfast, and 2 bananas for the shake with more milk rather than mix in water.

I am no expert, but this what I came up with so far, and your input is valuable.

What can I use as a food/sauce thickener that is suitable for type B?

And for the stir-fry, is there any substitute for oyster & teriyaki sauce? Since soy is an avoid, I love soy

These are all nutritional supplements, made from food products, etc.  There should be no "drug interactions", as these are not drugs, and are designed to be easy on the system.

Any compliant flour or starch...  Check for compliance on your plan and availability in your area - arrowroot, rice, millet, amaranth, even grinding compliant legumes into flour would work as long as the flavor doesn't interfere with the dish...

As ABJoe said, those supplements are not drugs.  In general, do what works for you.  I take vitamins and minerals with food.  Everything else, I just take between meals (This includes all herbs, Nitricycle, Deflect, etc. Polyflora just before bed).  That works well for me because I don't snack between meals.  That also encourages me to eat enough volume during each meal so that it sustains me until the next meal.  So I eat Two small and two large meals per day.

I didn't see mention of vegetables in your sample meal menu.  Are you eating veggies?

Thank you guys
A typical day is about (1500 calories)

Breakfast:
2 eggs with parsley (about 1.5 -2 cups parsley with eggs. (Later will add small portion of cottage with pineapple when I start going to gym)

Lunch:
3-4 cups vegetables
100g broccoli, 150g cauliflower, 100g shiitake mushroom.
For the sauce either, yogurt pesto or oyster sauce. + 200g lamb (or 250g turkey)

Or (for example)
100g Romaine +50g red kidney beans + 50g beet + 50g cucumber +100g colored bell peppers. + italian dressing or something else light + 200g lamb (or 250g turkey)


Dinner:
Banana shake with B-Type protein and milk

I drink herbals, chamomile, coffee, etc no sugar. Only 2-3 packets of sweetener per day.

As per your recommendation, Supplements will be taken as follows:
Breakfast: 2 Polyvite & 2 Phytocal
Between Breakfast and Lunch: 1 Live Cell
Lunch: no supplements
Between Lunch and going to gym: 1 Nitrile
At gym: water with Proberry – 15-20 drops
Bedtime: 2 Polyflora, 2 Deflect, 1 Live Cell

probably still suffering from methanol withdrawal  after quitting smoking.

avoid all artificial sweeteners especially aspartame, also avoid smoked anything like smoked fish, smoked meats etc. and don't eat any over ripe fruits.

all bad for the body and brain

You're getting off to a great start!  Good for you!!  Many of us did not hear of Dr. D'Adamo's programs until we were in mid-life or later and had already been through major health problems.  Starting as a young man to rebuild your health will also rebuild the foundation for your life and give you a chance at having happy and healthy decades ahead of you.  

I think you will find that this is a constantly evolving process, regularly fine-tuning your eating and lifestyle as you learn the programs more, learn the signals your body gives you, as you loose weight, as you become more fit.  Things will change as you get more healthy.  You will be able to tell which foods really support your intentions and which ones are just "fillers".  There will be ups and downs, but the more you can be consistent and compliant with your food list, the more benefit you will gain from your efforts.  And it is an exciting process!  

In the beginning, it may be enough to get strongly grounded in the basics - really learning your SWAMI food list, so that your main foods (meats, fish, vegetables, fruits, etc) are being chosen from your Superfoods and Diamond Superfoods as much as possible, and eating no Toxins/Avoids.  Little by little, you can find ways to drop the Toxins/Avoids that you are eating as condiments, etc.  Your tastes will change as the burdens on your body begin to lessen, and you will not have such cravings for things that are really not in your best interests.

Keep referring back to your food lists.  Print them out and have copies handy at home and in your car.


Superfoods, especially Diamonds are the ones that will heal and transform your health.

Neutrals function as just food, providing the nutrients inherent in them.  They are good choices if you don't have many options or if you get bored (which I never do).
Toxins/Avoids are like poison to your body and they bring your health and well-being down.  They are counter-productive to your attempts to turn your life around for the better.

I eat mostly from my Superfoods and Diamond category.  I use some seasonings (herbs and spices) from the Neutral lists, but don't buy main foods from that list.  I don't eat Toxins.  Rarely, a couple of times a year, I may eat something from the Black Dot list, if I am traveling, or just eating away from home, and have few options.

I don't know if I can rely on SWAMI at the moment, my inputs could be wrong, especially the measurements and fingerprints. However, I will fine tune it later.

I will not be able to follow the diet without the sauces, and they all have one or two avoids such as soy, soy beans, modified corn syrup. I only use 2-4 tablespoons to make the stir-fry.

Just like you, I also use extra virgin olive oil for both the cooking and as a salad dressing.

I will keep asking you when I hit a wall and get a bobo on my forehead

When we measured my type B daughter for the Genotype book diet, she was a Gatherer.  Later, when she got the SWAMI, she was classified as a Nomad.  Her food list changed quite a bit.  It was all ok, since she is willing to adapt.

Due to decades of IBS (which I no longer have), my intestines suffered a lot of damage, which reflects into damaged fingerprints.  I still have 2 or 3 which are impossible to read.  I entered Composite in my SWAMI.  When I can, I'll correct it.


I will not be able to follow the diet without the sauces, and they all have one or two avoids such as soy, soy beans, modified corn syrup. I only use 2-4 tablespoons to make the stir-fry.

My opinion is that it's more important for you to get established in the basics and I will not personally nag you about condiments.    You've come a long way already.  Just keep on keeping on at whatever level you are able to be successful.

In case I'm busy over on another discussion somewhere, there will be plenty of others who will be happy to support your efforts.  It makes us all happy when someone takes their health seriously and takes action to do the right thing by their bodies.

Do what makes sense for you.  Your body may tell you later to dump those sauces, but if it makes you able to keep "on-track" for now, fine...

Good to hear that you know you've found "the" way to better health.

Thank you guys,

I did find another way to make sauces. But will not use until it tastes just right  

Basically soup from boiled meats or and vegetables, thickened by rice flour. Then packed  per serving and freeze till used.

OK, it does sound like you're getting adequate quantities of vegetables. When you post "stir fry"  or "parsley" I have no idea how much food that is; when you say "3-4 cups vegetables" or "1.5 cups parsley" I have a much better idea. I've seen people sprinkle 1 tablespoon of dried parsley on some eggs; clearly that wouldn't be enough greens for a meal!

It does sound like you're off to a good start, even though the sauces aren't 100% compliant. That's fine for now, but you may want to try and find alternatives for the long-term; even small amounts of some "avoids" may interfere with your health and/or weight loss. Tamari (naturally brewed soy sauce) is OK on the general B diet, although I don't know how it rates for you on your SWAMI.

Tamari can be used to season dishes directly, and it can be used as an ingredient in homemade teriaki sauce. If you shouldn't have tamari, a homemade version is to use blackstrap molasses and salt as a substitute. I suggest you try to branch out into making your own seasonings at some point in the future.
