It is quite amazing, I experience scratchiness and soreness in my throat after eating a banana. Is this from A type specific lectin ?
Anybody else has this problem ? |

Bananas give me a headache. I was having them every afternoon with various fruits as a smoothy but didn't know why the headache problem until I took the IgG blood test. Found out they are an avoid for me. They are also on my Swami as an avoid. |

I don't know the relationship between latex and bananas, but I know I get a rash from bandaids and have to use a special paper tape instead. I'd be interested to know the connection. |

I seem to remember a similar response, once I knew to look for something... It was pretty easy for me to go cold turkey onto this diet, so I didn't try avoids very much... |

latex allergy from banana?
People with Latex allergies often are not able to tolerate a variety of foods Some common foods they may/may not react to include: Banana Avocados Chestnuts Fig Kiwi Peach Grape Celery Papaya Tomato Nectarine Avocado Melon Potato Cherry Rye Strawberry Wheat Plum Cherimoya Pineapple Hazelnut The proteins in these foods mimic latex proteins when they break down in the body triggering allergic reactions. |

I love bananas but my Swami list them as Avoids ... Oh well, I have to be content then to watch them grow in my banana circle garden and allow my Aneg hubby and O friends partake with them ... I have to check if banana flower is listed in my Swami and if OK or no rating I wonder if I could try cooking with it ... or being from banana plant I should consider it as avoid anyway? At banana harvest time we seem to have plenty volunteers to make them disappear quick and I had partake with the odd slice of banana cake (home made of course). Never ever had any reactions from it, that I know of ... at the cellular level might be a different story ... used to be one of my fav fruits ... until I enter this path ... so I am good that way ... |

They are a diamond superfood on my SWAMI, but I have no reactions to them. But then I am an A neg nonnie Explorer. I notice the A's here who react are secretors except for Victoria who is a B nonnie. |

Bananas contain an enzyme that will make you more susceptible to ragweed allergy. If you have a issue with ragweed don't eat bananas during ragweed season. |

Well, my daddy was a type A, so I'm an A once-removed. (Sort of like your cousin) |

try contacting bloodtypediet@gmail.com to help you find a distributor near you for swami, but first you need to read the Genotype Diet book |

C-sharp - That is good to know. Besides bananas, half of the foods you posted turned up as avoids on my IgG blood test. Maybe latex is the connection. deblynn3 - I am highly allergic to ragweed, but didn't know about the connection to bananas. |

This is part of the specific individuality of the SWAMI software. It evaluates your measurements and history, then compares that to numerous nutrient values in each food to determine which foods fit into the profile for you. There is logic behind every bit of it, based on numerous scientific studies, etc... |

I used to take a banana out with me - ready wrapped food - thought the headache I got was from going out, until I twigged Rarely touch them now and usually by accident in a smoothie. |

Years ago when my digestion wasn't working well, bananas would make me bloat. Other foods causing dripping and soreness in back of the throat, I think dairy/gluten did that. My diet doesn't include bananas but once in a while I crave them and don't notice any reaction now. |
