Hmmm...I only get a hankering once or twice a month. I used to eat it at least twice a week before GTD and adding red meat to my diet. And...I had some twice two weeks ago and I was trying to figure out what was going on with my bladder acting up and even with lots of cranberry caps it was tenacious...I had the same problem while on holidays last summer and ate way more chicken than I like. Thanks Dr. D'Adamo for this information! |

I had some chicken a few weeks ago because my son was here, and I did it for "old times' sake," more or less. Took me three days to get over it. No UTI, just felt awful. |

I'd have to agree with that. I love the stuff but it does a number on me. |

I used to get chronic bladder infections and now eat chicken pretty often and regularly but I haven't had a UTI in 18 months. Previously I could have had up to 4 in one year - bad ones too. I would chalk this one up to eating the wrong foods and not necessarily chicken because my chronic UTI's are no more (am still touching wood - just in case). I also would also spend 3/4 of the year feeling a bladder infection coming on but not to the point of fever, chills, pains, and all the other good stuff that comes with UTI's. I think they want to finger point at this and that and not get down to what individuals should and should not eat. Hey, everyone eats a lot of chicken, let's blame it on that, etc. |

BUT I do hope they believe this so they can force farmers to clean up their act with animals - (all farmed animals who aren't abiding by somewhat ethical moves). |

if we eat more antibiotics in food is it the reason why some become 'immune' to it's effectiveness?

That is interesting. I seldom eat chicken, but that is because it is a neutral on my swami, while turkey is a superfood. I do try to always buy organic and pasture raised. I feel sorry for people who do not know better. I wish more people would come over to our side. I am always advocating for BTD, but you can't force it down their throats. So far, I've made one very interested almost convert: my trainer at the gym. She wants to become a nutritionist as well as a licensed trainer, and she is very bio-science minded, so this is right up her alley. I bought her the BTD book and she has been reading it and plans to forward it on. Yay! One at a time. |

yet another reason to not eat chicken! lol
back when i was still eating chicken (after i stopped being a vegetarian, before BTD) i had a terrible time with chronic UTIs.
since eliminating chicken, i have only had chicken 1 time (it was recently) and i did have a UTI right after that. Intereting, wonder if they were connected. I recall being very surprised to have gotten a UTI as there seemed to be no other of the usual reasons |

Know your farmers if you possibly can. It is a huge blessing to be able to source food locally when possible and/or grow your own.

I stopped eating chicken in grad school because it gave me horrible stomach cramps. 12 years ago when I picked up ERFYT and read chicken was bad for B’s I said “This is the diet for me!” Before going on the BTD but after stopping chicken I still got UTIs. I can’t recall if the frequency diminished after stopping chicken or not, it was so long ago. I don’t get them anymore. |

Exactly what I am sitting here wondering..... However, I have never had any adverse effects from it whatsoever. But chicken is another thing altogether..... |

I doubt it... There is no lectin in turkey to attach to the digestive / urinary tract to cause trouble... |

The second article is about crazy things that chickens are fed, not about the lectin in chicken. I wonder if turkeys are fed such a disturbing diet. |
