Swami is great, and I must be one of the ones who does well with that "soap" as coconut oil is a superfood on my swami. |

It's a superfood on my SWAMI. It was only neutral on BTD.
On the basic BTD, only O nonnies can have coconut oil. On SWAMI, many people of various blood types have coconut oil as neutral or better. |

It generally gives me a headache. I cook with it once in a while but don't like the way it tastes. Coconut oil is a warm climate food and possibly many Os are from cold climates and this is the reason coconut doesn't work. |

Coconut oil is a neutral on my swami but the coconut meat and milk are avoids. I have only used the oil on my skin or to do "oil pulling" for my teeth. Many on this forum have said it really "cleans you out" so I am a little hesitant to eat the oil. |

I had my experience with coconut oil controlling my systemic candida infection (or infestation, should I say...).
I know people had issues with my posts about coconut oil but I was only writing about my personal experience as a nomad who benefits from ingesting coconut oil. Unless your GTD or SWAMI says coconut oil is okay, don't use it. I will never go against GTD or SWAMI ratings.
As for those who can have coconut oil - a little goes a very long way. I had to do my "extreme" candida purge for good reason and I owe it all to coconut oil. It was difficult. However, in hindsight, I would not have had it any other way. I would do it again with coconut oil if I had to... |

I should get SWAMI. Once again wondering if I should use this. It just occurred to me that my reaction to it coils be candida related. Otoh I have good digestion sometimes- think I've eaten some gluten contaminated nuts recently. |

Is Dr. A'damo still listing it as a food to avoid for type O people?
Coconut oil is a full-on avoid for me with SWAMI, even more definitively listed as an avoid than it was with BTD. As such, I've completely removed it (and all coconut-related products) from my diet. Coincidentally, I used to use organic coconut oil to a degree but wondered why I didn't necessarily experience any of the touted health benefits that so many others were seeming to have. And I really like coconut, especially with dark chocolate. (: Maybe I just don't have enough genetic inheritance from areas of the world in which coconut meat developed as a staple food source. I've replaced coconut oil in my diet with organic ghee from grass-fed cows and homemade butter made from raw, soured cream. Especially ghee seems to provide for Hunter Os many similar benefits that coconut oil provides for other BT/GTs. Too, I also include a variety of my diamond superfood oils, e.g., olive oil, but ghee works best for cooking.
For me, this is why ghee is similar to coconut oil. I copied the following excerpt from the website of Pure Indian Foods (my ghee of choice as they make it from certified organic milk from pastured, free-graze cows. Too, they're a fifth-generation family business started in 1889 that manufactures ghee according to time-honored traditions, e.g., it is made only on the waxing, Shukla Pakshha, or full moon, Purnima, days which are considered auspicious in the Vedic system) ...
Quoted Text
"Ghee is a healthy saturated fat that contains fat-soluble vitamins and nutrients our bodies need. Along with Vitamins A, D, E and K, which are critical to bone, brain, heart and immune system functions, ghee is an abundant source of conjugated linoleic acid – an antioxidant that destroys free-radicals, is an immune booster and a friend to cardiovascular health. It also contains lauric acid – useful in fighting fungus and candida ...."

I am glad people found my experience with coconut oil controlling candida helpful. I will start a new post but I found that controlling my estrogen dominance helped keep the candida under control permanently.
After my coconut oil cleanse, if I had sugar, wheat (avoids), or other starchy stuff, I would have a mild yeast infection. I started using natural progesterone cream and tried having a bit of sugary stuff and NADA! No more candida, period!
Progesterone cream + 100% compliance (diamonds) was my solution to most of my issues. |

even a little bit of coconut oil (or even coconut) can make me have a reaction/healing reaction. My mum has always been a coconut fanatic and following a large consumption of coconut the previous week, once expelled a gut full of live worms after getting car sick! A little goes a long way for me - even eating a teaspoon at the beginning used to give me a sore throat. I then really got into coconut water which was lovely and very soothing for the stomach! now that I have gotten used to the oil a bit, I don't really notice the effects of it too much, so long as I stay below 10g a day or so it is glorious in stir fries and I like to bake with it too - from cakes to rutabaga fries! I only really cook with ghee or coconut oil now... it is nice to know I'm killing parasites and viruses at the same time |

I was on progesterone cream and added some oil of oregano. I saw this huge pile of white stuff when I went to use the potty. I am suspecting it was either candida or some sort of crazy parasite.
They are all gone now and I am feeling a lot better.
Wishing every single one of you GOOD HEALTH!!! |

For anyone that likes young (green) coconut water, this was my source for fresh coconuts until SWAMI put the kibosh on coconuts for me: I'd order a case of 12 at a time, and the coconut water made the best tasting coconut water kefir (much better even than the ones I'd previously purchased at WFM). |

There's been a bit of a debate on here about coconut water. Dr D has only tested coconut milk/meat and coconut oil. Very few people, if any, get coconut milk or meat on their SWAMI. Many get coconut oil as neutral or better. Coconut water has not been evaluated by Dr D at all.
Some people say that coconut water should follow the coconut milk/meat rating, since it's the closest thing to it. Others consider it "untested and therefore neutral." I personally won't consume it because I'm not healthy enough to take chances- I'm sticking to foods I know are OK for me. You need to decide for yourself how comfortable you are consuming an unrated food.
You can still make water kefir with compliant juices.
Connor, I know that you're not personally consuming coconut water right now, but I wanted to clear up the confusion for others reading this thread.

As a B, coconut oil is the only compliant coconut item. I drank coconut water before starting doing BTD/GTD. I noticed that the high potassium content helped with water retention but my muscles were still not doing well (it was post-car accident). I noticed immediate improvement after eliminating the coconut water. |

Many on this forum have said it really "cleans you out" so I am a little hesitant to eat the oil.
As a fellow Teacher, I do great with coconut oil. Any oil will perform a thorough cleaning if you're not careful My favorite way to use it is to add about a tablespoon to brown rice cooking water. It makes for a fantastic texture, and the flavor is just delish |

Coconut milk is a black dot on my SWAMI. I did eat some finely milled, fresh coconut during T_giving and didn't have any obvious problems with it. Didn't overdo it, though! |

I'm glad coconut stuff is an avoid for me. They don't grow where I live so it's just something else I don't have to search for to eat. And that hard oil, I've seen it in stores, that looks like a complicated process for someone to extract that stuff from a big hairy brown nut. I liked in that documentary someone posted here "Fat Head"..."how do you get oil from corn anyway....I can't squeeze it or grind it up and get corn oil"....lol. |

Coconuts are much higher in oil than corn is. Making coconut oil is similar to the process of extracting cream from whole milk- smash the coconut pulp, then let it sit so the oil rises to the top and skim off the oil (or use a centrifuge to speed up the process.) It's a pretty low-tech, traditonal method of making oil. |

ChrissyA, OK..I will try a little cocnut oil when I make my rice. Do you use it topically for hair or skin? I love Trader Joe's organic coconut oil in a jar. It absorbs easily and am told it smells nice.(I still have no sense of smell.) |
