Goat milk is neutral for A Secretor, so I would go ahead and say butter from goat milk would be the same. Since the goat milk remains an avoid for A Non-S, I'd still say avoid for them.

We've had goat butter and my wife really likes it. She's an A and has trouble with regular dairy. Although regular butter doesn't seem to bother her like cow's yoghurt. But all goat stuff does well for her.

I intend to eat as little dairy as possible anyway (so goat milk yogurt/cheese and ghee) from now since I read in my chinse Medicine books yesterday that dairy causes cold and damp and a weakening of the Spleen, Stomach and Pancreas, leading to mucous in the body and the mind, and lessens digestive fire. Examples of illnesses are lipomas (fats and sugar also cause cold and damp), eczema, dermatities, asthma... All chinese medicine, which a lot makes sense to me!
You do need SOME fat though. And butter in small amounts might not do ALL of that. IMHO.

thanks JJR, I think if anything I eat too much fats, even if they re good fats: 1-2 table spoons of Flaxseed oil every morning and 1-2 table spoons of peanut butter nearly every day plus eggs also almost every day!
I just re-read other Chinese Medicine books and web site and given my condition prone to cold and damp all the above plus the goat milk yogurt or butter are basically bad for me, so that's me not very happy this morning! O well.
I'm not saying don't follow what they say. But I would caution you to find out what's right for you, with experience. Maybe the advice is right. But how does a book know what's right for you? The thing about the D'Adamo diet is it is geared for "individuality". And that is a process. But what chinese medicine says is good for many people, might not be exactly great for you. Or, maybe there is a little bit different spin to it. Again, I'm not saying it's bad advice. Even Dr.D's books say dairy can cause phlegm and congestion. I actually don't do any dairy, except butter. And even that it's about a teaspoon a day. Or sometimes a little more. I use olive oil in cooking and put some on my veggies. I am sticking close to my SWAMI, not necessarily exactly, but close. Which is the individual program you can buy from Dr. D'Adamo.
The only reason I'm saying all this is what you just said does not sound like an overly great amount of fat. I eat a whole lot more nuts than that every day. I probably don't use 2 tablespoons of oil a day, it's more like one, but whatever. Flaxseed is good for you. And I wouldn't consider eggs, fat. I would put them in the protein category. I know they have some fat, but so does most protein.
Are you following BTD right now and what book have you read? What does the book say for recommendations? I forget. Maybe I'll have a look.

The principles of chinese medicine are important to me and I've followed them for many years, with Dr. D's program as the foundation and core of my health regime. While some dairy foods are great for me on my SWAMI, others are definitely not. And a key to success on the SWAMI is paying attention to the frequency/portion recommendations. Also paying attention to the climate/weather and to what imbalances our bodies might be experiencing at any given time.
Cultured dairy is important to Nomads, but I would not thrive on a big bowl of yogurt every day. I put 1/4 C in my smoothie and that's it. Same with cheese and ghee. I eat ghee every day, but not spoonfuls. Approx 1 1/4 tsp/day is what my body thrives on. Going from one extreme to another is not the answer, especially if the reasoning is based upon any 'one size fits all' perspective.

to answer your question Victoria, I read the 2 first books "Eat Right For Your Type" and "Live Right For your Type". As I live in the UK, it seems a bit of a long process to order the Secretor status (plus what to choose: blood or saliva test?), and do I need to do the Secretor Test to order the Swami one? sorry for throwing in all those questions.
I find personally that the least dairy the better I am so I have cut them out and will only have some when eating out (and then only as goat milk cheese) but also - to live a little - have some goat milk yogurt every 3 weeks : buy a big pot and enjoy a whole weekend of yummy dessert: yogurt+peanut butter+ home-grilled and ground/chopped almonds and chopped/ground pumpkin seeds and Xylitol, O my, you don't need any sugar or chocolate, this is fabulous.
I have given some thought all weekend about the soy products creating dampness and raw vegetables/salads putting cold in your Spleen/Pancreas/Stomach, in chinese medicine. I have decided that since I live in a cold climate (north United Kingdom) that raw veg and salads (with cucumber especially, they really cool down the Spleen) will be a rarity in my diet and only have them in hotter climates during my holidays. I hope fermented vegetables don't fall into the Cooling category, because now that I have successfully made yummy Tsukemono with cawliflower and Chinese Leaf, I am including these in every meal I eat every day. they keep forever in the fridge and are ready-made Probiotics.
and as for soy, well I will decrease my consumption of soy yogurt (an acupuncturist once pointed out very processed it is) but still eat lots tofu/soy sauce/miso etc. I am trying to locate NATTO at the moment, my latest Health Builder Find, it seems to do many wonderful things for the health:

what s the amount of fats (even good ones) and dairy you eat in a week? and cooking method: do you fry? over bake? steam? I feel ill if I oven bake chicken: the whole dish is full of fat, as opposed to steaming chicken breast. Also if I fry garlic and onions as people do in general in the West in a pan with olive oil this also weakens my liver/gall bladder/energy. I have adopted to super hot+super quick wok frying method (foods remain raw-ish inside and dont have the time to absorb fat).
Hmmm you might be onto something there, thanks I do fry and bake and perhaps I should stirfry and steam more. I do seem to have trouble digesting fats, I'm told by naturopaths.
My intake of fats come from goat cheese (each fortnight), soy milk, chicken, fish, coconut milk occasionally, olive oils for cooking and in salad dressings. Sometimes there's fats in gluten & dairy free cakes or biscuits (fortnightly).

I've been questioning goat butter as well. The original book says that goat milk is avoid for A-Non Secretor, and the website says that as well, BUT... the iPhone app list states that goat milk is neutral for A-Non Secretor... so which is correct? I bought some goat's butter thinking it was okay to use, but now I'm worried.

I think the iPhone app is considered the most up-to-date, since it came out more recently than the website.
Since you've already bought the goat butter, I suggest you go ahead and use it. See how your body responds. If you don't respond well, don't have it again.

I had heard that the iPhone app and the website were the same, but there must be an error somewhere. Since I don't have an iPhone, I always refer to the website for ratings.
Are you planning to use the goat butter to make ghee? If so, it should be fine to use the goat butter.
If you are going to use it as butter, it may cause a problem long term, but I wouldn't throw this package away - unless you notice a problem. I just wouldn't buy more.
RAwarrior: Definitely worth getting secretor status checked. I'm in the UK and okay, I foolishly just posted it in ordinary mail, and yes, it did get there eventually (about 3 weeks I think) but they said it was still ok to test and I turned out to be non-secretor, which pleased me a great deal, explained a lot about me, my super-sensitivity, plus you get to eat a load of yummy foods that secretors can't eat! Fab! So there is quite a big diff in foods you can and can't have.
I've recently tried cutting my fat intake and it seems to be working wonders. I was addicted to choc (and curries bigtime!) and am cutting that back too and getting some sparkle back. I don't do the cocoa butter in it well - fats defo slow me down a lot. Once I realised about the fat thing, I dont even miss the curries now! Amazin.
I wondered about goat butter too. Interesting that Goat milk might be okay for A nonnies after all.
It's great to discover these new things as you go along and refine the diet. I'd say if you're feelin sluggish and kinda down, the diet needs refinement for sure.
