I don't understand why soybean beans are neutral and soy milk is a black dot on my swami. If I don't have soy (tried cutting it out once when I had a thyroid issue) menses is horrific, as soon as I added it back I was fine. This was a drastic, dramatic change and soy was the only thing that changed.
I'm wondering if soy milk is a black dot because of the usual garbage added to it. My favorite soy milk is made with nothing but filtered water and organic soybeans, nothing else added.

I have started making almond milk and it is yummy actually much better in my coffee than soy milk.

That wasn't really the question  . The soy milk I buy has a two ingredient list: filtered water and whole organic soybeans. That's it, no junk, not even any salt. My question was: " is the junk the reason soy milk is a black dot or is there another reason, you know, peanuts and peanut oil have differing values, is that true for soybeans and soy milk?

But anyway, my observances are really for type As, so type Os (either nonnies or secretor status unknown) needn't go on about soy. It isn't really recommended for you anyway.

WOW! this forum has been up since April 2010, I have been missing all the good stuff to know from you and everyone else.

Also, I know the food in health food stores such as Natto and Tempeh contain vinegar and wheat which Type A's should avoid.  I used to eat these things before I knew about BTD.  I stopped to eating them when I learned that I should avoid. So I have been missing all vitamins, minerals from those foods. I don't know what to do.

My question is, am I able to eat items that contain vinegar and wheat once it has fermented?  Or should I still avoid them? Thank you so much.

I don't see wheat, gluten or vinegar in this tempeh.  But of course, you might not have this
brand where you're living.

Well, here it is in a nut shell.  I'm an A secretor and soy products are good for A's.  I've tried tofu in a few different forms.  I can tolerate it in a smoothie (disguised) but I can't abide it in chunks no matter what its been cooked with and don't anyone mention that tofu picks up the flavor of whatever it is cooked in because I already know that.

I just came back from WF and bought some shelled edamane.  I'm getting back to eating it more regularly and I love it.  I also use soy creamer for my coffee.  

When I saw this title of this post I thought "Oh no, here we go again".  Soy is a big no-no.  Then I read Dr. D's comments and felt much, much better.  So, I'll be enjoying soy again.

Thanks again Dr. D. for helping us along the path.

I'm sorry I didn't answer this, I missed it. I buy "Westsoy" organic unsweetened soymilk from Westbrae Natural, my grocery store carries it.  The ingredients are : filtered water, whole organic soybeans.

I am with you on the tofu!!!
But....I use soy milk in my coffee and eat roasted soy nuts...edamame beans sometimes.
Only because Dr.D said it is good for A's!
I have tried many forms of soy beans,sauce and paste.They give me a stomachache.

I use Tamari a lot in my cooking ...

I also have tempeh, (every second week or so, a packet in a few days that week) ... the way I cook it my guests felt they were eating chicken ... just tempeh sautee with tamari and some herbs ...

... and then is soymilk in my soyccino, daily ...

Lazy me buys soy milk (often than I should), but when I do make my own, I use the Okara left over from milking, in my cooking and baking ...


I feel great having these soy products ... it aids my digestion and hormonal balance I think ...

Sigh. I miss tofu. I used to roast tofu with wheat-free tamari and toasted sesame oil until the outside got crispy, and serve with  veggie stir-fry and brown rice. In my low-carb days, I'd eat the tofu and stir-fry and leave the rice for the kids.

As an O nonnie with a B son and an O daughter who reacts poorly to soy (Explorer, possibly nonnie too) it's not a meal I can make anymore.

thank you so much Lloyd and everyone.   WOW many thing to learn and I just love BTD forums and you guys. But I try to stay away from the computer but seem the computer is part of my life because it's a great way to learn and research. Well sometimes, with English not being my first language, I don't always understand 100% but I try.  That's one reason try to stay away because I end up sitting for hours interpreting what I am reading.  

MY Diamond food about soy:
Soybean Beans
Soybean Pasta
Soybean, Cheese
Soybean, Sprouted
Soybean, Tempeh
Soybean, Tofu

And Superfoods
Soybean Granules, Lecithin
Soybean Meal

I love Swami because I have many choices of foods to eat (as long as I have the money to buy  )
Also, I know more about foods that I was concerned about before such as Lotus seeds.  Per my Swami it is BEST AVOIDED. WOW! I have been eating fresh raw (from the plant only, no chemicals) and cooked before. It is the number one traditional Chinese medicine.

I don't know if I should eat because I read for example that sellers often bleach lotus seeds with hydrogen peroxide or sodium hydroxide.  I want to know if Swami is telling me that I should avoid lotus seed because of the chemicals used or if it is just bad for my blood type A.

Even with rice, if it is good with no chemical additives it will not last long.  I mean if you let it sit for a few months, you will see small black bugs called mites. But if the rice has some chemicals added, it will stay forever without any bugs.
