Hi, All! I know black tea is a no-no and I do drink a lot of green tea. I recently bought a sampler pack of Numi organic teas and the assortment included a few white tea and teasan varieties. I tried searching the website for white tea but got no results. Anyone know if it's a good choice? I'd hate to partake of something that could torpedo what I've accomplished so far.
As a side note, I'm 4 weeks down the road on ER4YT and haven't felt this good in years! Amazing to think that it'll get even better over time. Also noticed my clothes are beginning to get loose. Sweet!! I |

Thanks, Lola. I must have been in too much of a hurry and missed it. Good to know. |

Many of us consider white tea the same as green tea, i.e. an unoxidized tea leaf. Technically neutral by virtue of not being listed. There may be some (small?) differences in beneficial value. |

I had heard that white tea has more antioxidants than green tea. Unfortunately I can't remember where I got that info, although I believed it so I must have thought the source was reliable. Any one know if this is true? |

if you narrow your search in the link I posted you might come up with interesting comments by other posters to the forum on WT. |

Thanks Italybound and Lola, That worked.
Summary: White tea and green tea come from the same plant, but white tea is made from very young buds that are hand plucked. White tea contains more antioxidants and less caffeine than green tea. The taste is considerably milder and the appearance paler and more neutral. |

I like to use them both, because it seems to me that their benefits vary slightly. |

Speaking of tea, I found a really tasty tea by Dynasty called.. "Chinese Restaurant Tea" It's a very mild oolong type tea. I love it! It does taste like the tea in ...you know..Sometimes Oolong tea has a really strong taste to me like I'm drinking escence of weed. (No, not that weed..a weed from the side of the road... weed) White tea is good. I like it iced. It's very thirst quenching.. |

Thanks to each and every one of you all who contributed answers. It's good to know something I like so well won't hurt me.
I know this is somewhat off-topic but I really, really need some moral support and suggestions. As I mentioned, I'm 4 weeks in and quite honestly I really haven't had any issues, as far as cravings were concerned...but today, for some reason, they've kicked in BIG time! I have luscious visions of nacho cheese Doritoes and DQ's Blizzards dancing in my head! I have some nice healthy organic sweet potato chips (made with sea salt and olive oil) but man! They're just not the same! I also had some delicious organic strawberry RiceDreams that was good but...those of you who have struggled with cravings know what I mean. My problem has always been that I ate because I love the TASTE of food and I suspect the bad stuff must have flavor enchancers to make the experience of eating them so intense. How long does it take before the taste buds adjust? |

As my BIL says, the memory of the beloved (but oh so unhealthy) food is muuuuch better than the actual experience of eating it again. |

Gooood point! Thanks! *hugs* I'll just try to focus on how horrible I'd feel if I did indulge. |

Think about how you're feeling and what you're thinking when the craving pops into your head, and address that, the source, instead of indulging into the cycle again. Writing anything that comes to mind for 20 minutes often helps... if you have trouble resolving it, we're here For me it helps to know that when I crave a frosty, I actually crave my father's attention, and seek solace in my mom's culinary indulgences. (My mom ruled the roost, and my dad didn't get that involved in our lives) It usually happens when I don't have much attention from my husband, if he's stressed out or travelling. But if I focus on the fullness that I have, my boys, my relationships as an adult with my parents (which are much more balanced) and new friends and opportunities...if I focus on that I can choose healthier foods. |

Very perceptive of you to figure out that this will happen. I didn't have a clue until one day, when I realized, "Hey, all this healthy food sure tastes a lot better now than it used to!" It may take a few months. In the meantime, type Os should eat protein when they get cravings for carbs (which sounds like what you are craving). |

Good insight, Melissa. This is the way I was able to get out from under my coffee addiction. When I craved coffee, I realized that I was craving the time when I started drinking coffee with my dad, and we shared some good times together during that period in my life. |

Made it through the crisis! Thanks for all the good thoughts, advice and insight. I'm noticing the healthy things are beginning to taste better, probably due to my experimentation with allowed herbs and spices. It appears the things I'm missing the mostly corn-type concoction--corn chips (Doritoes), Cheetos, popcorn, corn-on-the-cob, things of that nature. The wheat really hasn't been a problem from my doing Atkins for 4 years (I fell off that wagon about 5 months ago) and the fact that wheat has always seemed to give me problems. As an infant, whenever my mom ate wheat products then breast-fed me, I'd break out in rashes. Because my mom is German (lots of dough dishes--dumplings, kneopfla, strudles, rolls, all home-made) I've had weight issues my entire life...that is, until I started eating less and less of it. I just have to get a handle on the corn obsession I have. |

Wow, Melissa. How insightful. I'll have to try that next time I get a craving. I don't get them very often at all on the GTD (I did on BTD), but next time one floats along I'll try to figure out what's going on emotionally first. |

I'd love to find out my secretor status but at this point it's just not financially possible. We don't have that many resources for organic foods here so they're pretty expensive. In the meantime I'm being as strict as I can be with the food guidelines. The only thing that seems to give me trouble is (organic) sugar. Sugar and higher-carb fruits kind of make feel like I retain fluid for a period of time after I eat them, like puffy hands/fingers and feet/toes, my cheeks feel tight (facial cheeks, not the other. ), eyes feel kind of big for their sockets, that sort of thing. I've learned to just avoid sweets of any kind and instead use stevia as a sweetener if I need one. |

yeah, it seems like sugar is sugar is sugar. I only use agave these days and even it seems to be giving me a fit, unless it was the apples, rice flour, or amaranth flour. Since apples are a black dot on GTD, I'll blame them At any rate, no sugar tonight in my coffee, no sugar tonight in my tea. sing along w/ me folks |

Graedyn, some on the board have simply tried going by the nonnie guidelines for a time instead of the secretor guidelines, to see which works better. That might be a good thing for you to try as a stopgap until you can afford the secretor test (you should find out for sure at some point). |
