Good morning all.  I am not a celiac, but am very sensitive to wheat.  I do have rheumatoid arthritis and when I eat wheat, it will cause my fingers to swell up so that in the morning I can not even close my hand or grasp anything.  The joints will be so inflamed that my skin turns purple at the joint area of my hands.  Plus, I will retain water as well and my face will get so puffy that I look as though I have gained 20 pounds.  So, I love and eat millet bread.  I read labels and avoid wheat.  Even buy wheat free soy sauce.  Also, nightshades will have the same effect on me.  Not eating tomatoes has been very difficult for me.  But the pain it put me in to eat avoids is not worth it.  I will also feel like a slug with no energy.

I have never been tested for gluten sensitivity but about 20 years ago I was skin tested for wheat and came back negative. But I know I have a wheat sensitivity. Or a wheat sensitivity that has a raised threshhold because of another undiagnosed strong sensitivity.

I have none of the abdominal celiac symptoms. But if I eat wheat, I get funny heart feelings, sort of a chest pain that is odd, almost bony, and swollen ankles and dizziness. I intend to be tested soon.

save yourself the tests....
I d follow the foodlists and reap the benefits of feeling healthy again!

try getting a hold of the HSB on arthritis....
follow those guidelines and protocols that came with it

also get a serotyping panel done to determine your secretor status and subtype.....more tweaking there, and great results!
