My concern with the secretor test is that as I understand it, I would need to send it to the USA to be processed?  And I don't trust our postal service to get it there in time to be any good..... I suspect it would turn out to be a waste of money because it would be useless on arrival......

It worked just fine when I sent mine

And sausages are another problem entirely,  trying to find some with compliant meat AND no filler is nigh on impossible - I love sausages

You can use minced beef/lamb/turkey or combination thereof and add spices, egg and compliant fillers (if you prefer the lighter texture) and just shape into little sausages and cook.

Cover them with kitchen foil initially and you'll have lovely little 'sausages' - you can use the leftovers in lunch or you can cook a batch and freeze or shape and freeze and cook after defrosting...

I can't find the ingredients, and haven't tried it out myself, but wellshire farm makes a nitrate free turkey ham (for those in the US).  Even with avoids, it would be better than regular ham which has pork and avoids. wellshire farms

I always notice that I come down with things, colds and such, after having pork, it seems to weaken my immune system.  Corn does worse, of course, but pork isn't good to me.

Thanks koahiatamadl, that's reassuring.

Maybe I'll wait till they have worked off the backlog from the postal strikes, then give it a go......

Well, I've managed the first steps - 2 weeks with as many beneficials each day as avoids. Most days I've had more beneficials than avoids but 3 days I only managed the same number - all 3 were at the weekend so I clearly need to do better when I am out with friends

Exercise-wise I've had 2 weeks where I've been walking up the stairs at work (4 flights).  A couple of days I've done half a mile on the exercise bike. I've also been monitoring how much I walk each day (and it isn't much!)

Weight-wise I've lost 2 lbs

For the next 2 weeks I will continue the above but also:
  • cut out wheat
  • cycle half a mile 4 times a week
  • walk at least 1900 steps 4 times a week

Definitely small steps, but hopefully that way I will achieve it, not fail - I don't cope well with failing

At the moment however I am feeling very sorry for myself - thinking of changing my name to Rudoplh - I've got a streaming cold and consequently a bright red nose!

Welshire farms makes very good turkey bacon (nitrate free) and turkey kielbasa, that are better than pork versions (imo).

Hi KipperKid, well done on getting back to it.  The UK and Europe distributor for BTD products is http://www.right4eu.com/ the tests are well priced for the UK and shipping/postage is free on orders.

Good luck.

Hi KipperKid, sorry the last link was to the 'new' Right4UEU website which seems to be 'in build', you can order on their old one which is at http://right4eu.sageshops.co.uk/gbp/index.php?cPath=3
