Hi,
I have always been a major carnivore. That being said I have been on so many diets that I tend to eat mainly chicken and turkey now. Since starting BTD I have tried to increase my beef intake. Each time I feel miserable. I wake up at night totally uncomfortable and with stomach upset. I drove all the way to the health store to buy this organic beef.
In the past I would have beef odor seeping out my pores so we switched to organic which helped but some but now I am just feeling bad after eating it.
Beef also used to cause me to snore at night but organic did not. I am just not sure if I should bother trying to force myself to keep eating more beef because it is a beneficial or just stick with my poulrty.
I am allergic to fish so this is eliminating food choices for me.

If this happened to me, I would have my blood retested.

I too would have my blood retested, very odd for an O not to just love and crave beef.

after receiving blood for problem deliveries and numerous surgeries I know the blood  type is correct or I would have it retested.
And I LOVE beef it just doesn't love me. I can sit and eat a giant steak but smell like said steak all day.
Does secretor status make a difference with beef?
My LR4YT and CR4YT should be here tomorrow.

BT can change, but it is extremely rare.  Also, do you consume bread with the meat?  This is supposed to be bad.

How long have you been BTD'ing?  How compliant are you?  If it hasn't been very long, you may be detoxing in some way.  Any new supplements that may be affecting you?

I have been BTD about 6 weeks. I still do coffee and half and half. I finsihsed off my toamtoes, cukes and mayo about a week ago. I think I need to pay more attention to amounts. I do try to have meat with at least 2 meals and bean with the third (black bean or cannellini). I have increased my green veggies to include kale, escarole and chard (ones that are not usually on my list). I believe I eat to many apricots(unsulphured) pumpkin seeds(raw) and raw walnuts. I will be cutting these back also
This morning was blueberries cream of buckwheat
a grapefruit
lunch I tried that beef again with sweet potatoes--we shall see.
and of course my coffee and cream. I am cutting back on this.

Sometimes it's the mix of things.  Could be the meat but I would think of the coffee and the dairy first especially if you are consuming those later in the day or evening.  Then I would look at all the detoxifying foods you are eating such as pumpkin seeds, walnuts, blueberries & to some extent the grapefruit.  maybe your body is dumping toxins.  They say the liver dumps in the night sometime between 11pm and 3am.  Could this be causing your discomfort?  I would try a drop or two of ginger essential oil rubbed over the stomach and abdomen temporarily to relieve the discomfort and hasten the removal of the toxins and see if it gets any better.

Perhaps if you ate meat at breakfast or lunch and not at your evening meal?  Usually an O digests meat rather quickly so this doesn't make alot of sense.  My O's can eat meat for dinner and get full then ask for something else to eat before I've got my feet up!

And as for the hospitals not making mistakes on blood work....well, let's just say I've known of it to happen and more than once.  Even after the 4 hour cross referencing that they do before they do a transfusion.  If you were given O blood and yet another BT, it would be fine since O is the universal giver.   Perhaps your BT was only checked once and assumed to be correct all the other times?  Anything is possible.  Strager things have been discussed here and there about people's BT changing from either an illness or transfusions or ???

Don't pay for a secretor test until you are certain of your BT as a secretor test will not confirm your BT and I think it says in the packet insert that it can give false information if you give a false BT.

I am type O and was very sad to find out that I was supposed to eat meat. I was vegetarian for many years and added back chicken and turkey and fish. However, I really don't like it and would prefer to never eat it at all. Whenever I eat red meat I truly want to vomit unless it is burnt to a crisp which is more harmful than not eating it at all. I eat it because the diet says I am supposed to but I hate it. Is it true that O's love eating meat, because I just can't stand it.

It can be a process of transitioning for those who have developed their tastes around eating in opposition to their bloodtypes.

My blood type is O+ 3 different hospitals in 3 different states. All did tresting at the time sugery or transfusion was needed. They test your blood before every surgery or before giving you blood. They do the type and crossmatch.
I will continue to try beef and amybe something in the new books will give me some hint as to what the issues are. I appreciate all the help you are all offering.

Jean,
are you overweight?

the reason I ask, is because unfortunately vegetarian Os tend to be 'starchatarians', and this can really mess up your insulin receptors.

your body needs to detox all the lectin damage first, before it can eventually thrive on the right protein sources.

your gut needs to heal, so taking deflect and polyflora, as well as adding ghee to your diet will help things along nicely.

Have you tried eating lamb?  Also beneficial and it may agree with you a bit better...as long as you consume a range of beneficial protein sources you don't have to force yourself to eat a particular one

Lola mentioned something that I just thought of....Ghee.  Are you just starting to eat Ghee?  I had alot of rumbling when I first started eating Ghee.  And the BT community said to stick with it that it could be the healing process of my gut.  Now I do not have this rumbling sensation.

Another thing is sometimes when people first start to take PolyFlora, their body will push out a bunch of junk.  all of this would probably start during sleep since that is when the body detoxes.

Jean, you are supposed to enjoy your food. If beef is giving you a problem right now, then leave it alone and concentrate on other areas for a while. You can revisit the issue later when your coffee and so on is under control. Also, I don't blame you on the commercial meat. After eating grass fed, the fat from comercial beef is somewhat sickening to me. Not enough to stop eating it   but I do notice the difference and can understand how you might feel.

Hey momzybaby. Adjusting from being a vegetraina can be tough. If chicken, turkey and fish is what you can do right now, then that is what you can do. Down the road you may want to revisit red meat but there is no reason to force yourself right now.

I started using Ghee yesterday. I bought it yeah I know I can make it but life happens.
Yes I am overweight and had lost 10 pounds the first week and a half on BTD but then I stopped and it is weird one day I am up 9 lbs and the evening down 6 then way low in the morning and up 9 so I have no idea.
My skin is better,my face is changing shape and is more taunt. I tend to feel better most times. These weird bumps on my face disappeared (I don't mind that at all!).
I have this thing about eating lamb I just can't do it. I have put it in my cart a bunch of times but then took it out. All I can think of is that it has a moldy Mutton taste.(never had it)And why eat a new animal when I have others to eat.
I ambasically an anti pill person but will take calcium magnesium and Stree B with zinc.
I am allergic to so many things and enviornmentals that I am afraid of the unknown pills.

Hey Momzybaby,
Yes, I know the feeling...  I really enjoyed my vegetarian days.. they eventually caught up with me, though.  I, however,  love the taste of beef.  I do not like chicken or turkey.  I have tried going back to being a vegetarian O, but I seem to gain too much weight  when I do the raw nuts .   There is just something about eating  very lean ground beef that agrees with me, even if it is not the "mental" place I want to be.  I do enjoy my meals when I eat meat, but I am sort of in the mindset that I'd rather not eat animals... but I thrive on the  diet which includes beef, so I am sticking with it...  eventually you will find some peace!

every once in a while I like to recreate my hippie vegetarian days by making a veggie meal. A classic one was, and is,  brown rice with sauteed cubes of tofu and steamed or sauteed mixed vegetables, or just broccoli, and garlic, topped with tahini sauce...which is just tahini thinned out with water, a bit of lemon juice and tamari to taste and sprinkled with cayenne! YUM!..( where's the brewer's yeast?)

but momzybaby and drgnwng, why not just take a bite of beef each day? cook up a burger of grass fed and keep it in the fridge and take a bite a day.

Jean, have you had your gall bladder removed?  I know for a few years after I had mine removed beef would give me the worst stomach you can imagine.   My suggestion is to stick with the chicken and turkey ...work in the beef, lamb or buffalo so that eventually it is more dominate in your diet.  Also, the seeds and walnuts could also cause difficult digestion if you are not used to them.

Also, ignore your scale.  Once a week is enough.  Your clothes will tell you if you are dropping weight better than a scale will.

Secretor status is important, but will not change the need for red meat in your diet.  I have lost 50 pounds now.  The first 10 were tough, but after finding out that I am a nonnie the just fell off.

I too am majorly impressed. I need to loose lots so I figured it should fall off like anytime I try dieting. Yes I know this is not a diet. I do not crave sweets or junk very interesting. Infact I was going to stop for a Starbucks but then it didn't interest me enough!
