I have been on the blood type diet?lifestyle for seven years. My husband is an O. I am an A. We have four children;three of them are A's and one is an O. We all follow the blood type diet/lifestyle to the best of our ability. Since I am an A,I had to teach myself to like soy. It took me a little while but the soy finally "grew on me" In August of this year, I went to see a naturopath because I was concerned that I had edema and nothing I was doing seemed to be working. Once she checked me out she determined that I am allergic to soy. So I'm thinking how can that be possible, here I'm an A and I'm eating all this soy to find out it's messing with me this whole time. Well needless to say once I stopped my consuming of soy, I am now able to wear some clothes I had been unable to wear due to all this fluid retention in my tissues. The naturopath also adviced me to eat lamb instead. So yet again I wondered how can I since that is an avoid for A's. I've been eating lamb like once per week and I am not going to worry about it. Is there anyone  out there who could please help me understand this ?

I d find out if I m a secretor or a nonnie and also if an A1 or  an A2.
if you happened to be a nonnie and an A2 lamb would be ideal.
and soy wouldn t, also if you were just a nonnie.....

pls read the tutorial and find out about secretor status, specially the last lesson.

mascara, wishing you a warm welcome to BTD and the forums........
Lola's advice is right on the money........knowing your secretor status will help you tremendously.  More foods change status from sec to non sec in b/t A than any other.
Also, the avoid, neutral and bennie status' given are only guidelines......we all have to take into account our individuality.
Cassandra the blogger (O) cannot tolerate beef..........I, myself, just had allergy blood tests done..........they should some reaction to bananas and broccoli (both bennies for my b/t)    ............ individuality.....
Keep listening to your body.........it's a good judge of what is good for you.

I too found out that I cant handle soy in even small minute amounts. I get eczema on my eye lids and my mouth and I only get it when I have something with soy in it. I believe soy is only neutral for nonnie A's except for miso which is benefical. I am probably an A2 because I seem to handle lamb and the lighter meats just fine, and combined with other beans that are benefical to A nonnies I think I get enough protein. I would suggest a nonsecretor test as well as getting Live Right for Your Type to learn more. Also my AB boyfriend gets terrible eczema from soy on his hands and legs, it cracks and bleeds and it takes forever to heal.

Thanks for your input. I was also wondering why the nonnies seem to have less beneficial foods than the other blood types. It seems like most of the foods suggested for A nonnie fall under the neutral...any idea why? I am an A positive by the way... Have a wonderful day!

There are 25+ foods that change value for Type A's from
secretor to non-secretor.
