I had some green tea from Starbucks last week, sweetened with their "melon syrup"-- which the girl assured me was not sugar or an artificial sweetner.  Which, naturally, made me curious as to what it was, but I'm not having much luck on-line.

Next time you go in, ask to read the label.

If she declines, ask to see the manager. While some proprietary things may be protected, you are entitled to know the ingredients of what you purchase.

My searching on the net indicated that melon syrup was  cane sugar, water, and
either honeydew or watermelon flavor, and sometimes some coloring.

If melon syrup was "sugar free" than it contained splenda.

I absolutely agree w/ Lloyd...........I have asked to read the ingred on the white choc mocha (twice) and was 'allowed' both times. Just tell them you have allergies to foods and you want to be sure before you consume. And yes, if they decline, the mgr would be next in line. If they have nothing to hide........it should be fine.

Oh man, I had the same thing.. I think it's called a Green Tea Frappe..... I might as well have had a milkshake... it was sOooOOooo  sweet... and very creamy.... and I know better....I did not ask to see the ingredient list, but I am positive that it has to have a ton of sugar and a ton of other stuff in it to make it so rich and creamy.  I know from experience that the plain soy milk without additives and caarageean (sp) does not taste this rich.
So the next time I went in for tea, I just ordered plain brewed green tea.
I don't do Starbucks often.. I have a local  coffee/ tea shop that we support... don't get me wrong, I love Starbucks.. sorta.... but just as McDonalds, I feel like Starbucks is putting all of these options out there that are really harmful to the health of the public if consumed often... like this Green Tea Frappe... maybe I'm wrong.. but if people feel like this drink is "healthy" for them, they have the wrong idea in my opinion....

I totally agree with you!
misinformation and addictive flavors attract customers.

I think it's called a Green Tea Frappe...

A 16 oz Green Tea Frappe has 67 grams of sugar.

A pint of Ben & Jerry's butter pecan ice cream contains 72 grams of sugar.
