What a shame - I have been tucking into the pineapple - so good for the joints they say - it has taken the lining off my stomach and small intestine - felt really sore - I didn't think that I had eaten that much but was taking it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach -

I second the Bromelain............if taking if for inflammation, do so on an empty stomach.               With food acts as a digestive aid. What a versatile supplement!
Raw pineapple gets me too........I can barely eat a couple of pieces, tho I do love it.
As Lola mentioned............juice........that doesnt bother me.  Funny the difference......for O's pineapple is neutral, but the juice is beneficial.

Pineapple will unclog your sink so you have to go easy on it.....juicing it is the best

I always return to the faithful apple - tinned at the moment because my stomach is so sore but it really seems benificial to me - also they say the pectin removes any nasty residues left from tablets etc. I read in a book once that a drug addict could remove all traces of drugs if he drank a bottle of pectin from the chemist - although I wouldn't know that from experience!!

digestive aid
Add about 1 1/2" fresh ginger root to the carrot juice. Do it between a few
carrots so you have the succeeding carrots flush out the ginger juice.

Say hello to gastrin, secretin and cholecystokinin!

I always drop about an inch of fresh ginger root into my Vita-Mix when I'm making a juice---it makes my stomach warm.

I get real problems when my stomach is empty -wind and soreness - not sure what this is about - I never allow myself to get hungary for that reason - its as if the stomach valve lets in acid from somewhere - everything is OK again when I eat - its a real pain!

to follow on from the pineapple I continued with the mugs of black coffee and oh  dear I began to think I had an ulcer -my whole digestive tract was inflamed - I was so sore. so stopped drinking coffee last Friday and the symptons are now subsiding thank goodness - just a warning to others about the power of these two things - am now much calmer - work will just have to slow down - I cannot keep running round like a revved up jet on coffee.
Best wishes to you all

yep, coffee's a real no-no for us O's. I miss it but I dont miss how it messes w/ my blood sugar. You'll be better off w/o it too.    I have found no good substitute, just try to be happy w/ my teas.

You might want to give green tea a try, or if you want a caffeine-free alternative, rooibos (redbush) tea is pretty good.

Bromelain supplements are a good way to get the benefits of pineapple without the acid side effects. Also, eating fresh pineapple with other fruits helps buffer the acid somewhat. If all else fails, juicing is a good alternative. I mix mine with Gerolsteiner for a nice refreshing (and hydrating) drink. Add in some elderberry concentrate and pomegranate, black cherry and/or blueberry juice, and you have Edna's Berry Berry Good Soda!
