I bought this great herbal tea that has cherries and all sorts of good stuff, but the only ingredient that throws me off is the blackberry leaf, which I've seen quite often before.  I was wondering, since it's a completely different part of the plant, if it would also be an avoid for O's.

Blackberry is an avoid due to the lectin.

Hi!  I can tell you for sure that blackberry leaves are NOT an avoid!  How do I know?  Well, I asked this very question years ago on the old board, and Dr. D himself answered it for me, yay!  Per Doc D., the leaves do NOT contain the lectin.  I've included a link to his post below.

So enjoy your tea with no worries, mate!

erictm998, glad you brought this up............sounds exactly like a tea I have found and use. Wondered on the blackberry thing, but I don't use it all the time, so wasn't so worried. Nice to know it's ok.......

thanks Edna!

You're welcome!  I can see why you would think it was an avoid.  I only knew it wasn't because I asked that exact question when I was a brand, spankin' newbie on the old board and Dr. D. himself answered me.  I think it was the first time he ever responded to a post of mine, so of course it is burned forever in my memory, as when Dr. D. speaks, us BTDers listen in rapt attention!
