I went off non-cultured dairy for 2 months and just tried goats milk today.  I then experienced a filling up of mucus in my lungs.  I have been having chemical sensitivities which resulted in the same symptoms several times this month already from inhaling strong perfume deoderizers in restaurant bathrooms and then again sniffing a bottle of "natural" nail polish remover at a health food store.

Anyway,  I believe my immune system is too low to tolerate dairy right now.  However, I did have the yogurt last night and was fine.

Does this mean I should lay off the non-cultured dairy long-term?

In general cultured dairy is easier to digest especially for grown ups- even for B┤s and especially for B nons.
If lactose is a problems- it is more broken down in cultured dairy than regular milk.
regular yoghurt natural contains: 2,49 gram lactose pr 100 ml while regular milk aprox 4,70 gram pr 100 ml.
Low/non fat milk contains a bit more than whole milk.
I would stick to yoghurt, kefir, sour cream and avoid all regular milk for a while

How do you feel about cheese ?

I do fine with feta.  I have not added mozzarella back in yet.  My naturopath took me off many foods and then I had to reintroduce them one at a time.  I was surprised about the goat milk since I drank it all the time before.

I would wait with the goat milk and just do yoghurt and maybe a bit of feta.

I have developed a sensitivity to uncultured dairy... but it only seems to bother me during pollen season from late Spring to early Fall. Other times of the year I am fine with milk... both cow and goat although I almost never buy cow's milk anymore.

From one B nonnie to another, your reaction to uncultured dairy sounds pretty normal to me.  It gives me very painful intestines and very loose stools, along with sinus congestion.  I haven't drunk milk in many years.  A year or two ago, I realized that cow dairy in any form is stressful for my system.  If I was going to eat any, it would be mozzarella or yogurt, but only if I was eating away from home and had no other choices.
I eat goat yogurt every day with no ill effects.  Once or twice a week, I'll have some sheep's feta, and occasionally I eat some goat Chevrie.

I found a wonderful farmer who sells me fresh organic goat's milk so that I can make my own yogurt.

edited to add:  I forgot about ghee!  I make my own from organic butter (cow).  It's a great food, and gives me only positive results.

Thanks, Victoria and others who have responded.  Victoria, it's good to hear from another non-secretor B who has similar sensitivities.  I was just so surprised because I was not affected by goats milk earlier in the year.  Maybe allergy season does have something to do with it as was posted above.  I took back an opened bottle and exchanged it for Brown Rice Milk by Ryza that is oil free.

I do have sheep feta in the fridge and love it along with organic cow yogurt which does not seem to affect me yet.  The ghee I use seems o.k. too.

I am still trying to heal my bronchial tubes from this allergic episode though.  The weather is not helping either.  Guess I will just have to keep drinking my Bronchial Tea by Flora.  It's the only one I can find that works for me.  

Being a non-secretor sucks sometimes.  My poor sister is in Nova Scotia and has to keep visiting the ocean to clear her lungs out.  She is a B too.
