I felt bloated and.... after I ate anything with wheat. This is how I started with the diet
But many things I like are on the void list. I have a hard time with that.
Then my husband has type A. Only when I cook the right food for him he eats it and follows the diet.
Then I skip a little
Both of us  stopped eating potatoes and wheat.
How to combine A and O? Any suggestions

Hi and welcome Diedre! This is good advice!

Diedre, you could try giving away some of the foods that fall within the category of avoids. A charity organization, friends whoever, but atleast it wouldn't go to waste and you wouldn't be tempted! My friends had a ball when I started this diet because I gave away so much stuff, but I feel better when they are not in my freezer or cupboards. I hope you feel better soon!

Very true! That's also my experience.

Another thing I've noticed is: If I expect to get a reaction, I get one. If I forget all about eating an avoid, I'm likely not to feel anything wrong.

Then again, I'm not the most sensitive type. It usually takes a while before I react. Like, I need to eat totally wrong for about a week before my body tells me to STOP!

I remember too so many of the  so called normal pains that have gone away since following the BTD. A little orange juice and my nose would develope the sniffles. I would think uh oh I must be fighting something..Better drink some more orange juice! Corn substances made me dry eyed and itchy and puffy feeling in the face. Much less gas in either direction when totally compliant. Slip in a few too many grains and back to previous normal undesired output levels. There is nothing like that good old compliant feeling to reset your comprehension of how one's 'sposed to feel!

My B husband says he'll never touch chicken again.  It's one of the worst foods for him now.  I recently ran across an old food list I was making for him just before we went on the BTD.  We knew something was making him feel terrible so I'd write down every single thing he ate for a week.  We couldn't figure out what it was until we started the BTD--chicken!  Who would have thought?!

I just gave away every tomato and tomato-based sauce in my kitchen.  It hurt a lot, but I think I will feel better.  I feel your pain, getting rid of perfectly good food....or then again, is it perfectly good?

Hi,
all your ideas are great, I have made a list of what I eat. I have also found that peppermint helps. most of the time it is due to something I ate, cereal starts out good until the 3 ingreadient which is Wheat. a major no no for me.

I started the tutoral learn a lot but I also take medicine which I am try to get off of.  The reason the doc put me on them Blood presure and Thyoid is that I had gained so much weigh, went from 130 to 180, so the determatior could not recomend any supplements.

I've found that either I've become more sensitive to things-not-good-for-my-body since starting the BTD, or else it's just I'm more tuned-in to my body, and picking up the subtle signals before they get any worse.

Just a couple days ago my lips started tingling and puffing up after I applied lip gloss!  Immediately I swiped off the gloss and tried another one - same brand, different color.  No go.  Same reaction.  After trying that type of lip gloss on-again, off-again over a couple days, I was convinced my body hates something about that lip gloss.  Or at least, my lips do.

Yesterday I left a little pile of my old-but-new-and-barely-used lip glosses on my teenage daughter's bed - a love offering, a peace offering, an offering to the Temple of Teenagedom.   I left them all to her and bought myself several Burt's Bees lip glosses instead.  

The Burt's Bees lip glosses have all worked very nicely.  No bad reactions at all, and the colors are fresh.

Hi all! Week 4 on BTD, lost 8 pounds so far (only 2 more pounds to go) and I haven't had any avoids this week. I'm very happy with the results; my body feels great, my skin is glowing, I no longer have hunger pangs in the middle of the night!

What can I say; I feel great!  

You know how good it is to not having to count calories for the first time in my life since I was 18 and still lose weight? My friends used to laugh at me all the time because I would go on a new weight loss plan every few months but still regain the weight after losing it because I was starving during the diet, so I would splurge after  the diet ended.

BTD is a lifestyle change and I will never return to eating the way I did before BTd. It is a comforting feeling  knowing that I will never have to count calories again yet I won't be overweight and obese like everyone else in my family. huraay!!!!!!!

I have had similar reactions to Debra+, anything "corn syrup" and my hands and knees start to bother me.  If I avoid it all together, not a twinge of pain.  

Giving up corn products is much nicer than taking Celebrex and pain killers day in and day out.

Since I've begun the diet, certain avoids that I always avoid cause blisters in my mouth or some, um, gastrointestinal issues.  

Wheat in particular causes me serious intestinal grief.  Never did before.  I take that as a sign that I really shouldn't be eating it at all.  

I'm lactose intolerant anyway. My body decided long ago that I was not supposed to be eating dairy.  

When I eat more fruit than I should, my psoriasis goes nutso. My head itches and flakes like there's no tomorrow.  The sugars cause yeasties to build up which then cause my psoriasis to go bonkers.

Oh....hum.  Interesting----sugar causes your head to itch and flake?  My dandruff is gone since being on the BTD, but I wasn't sure what it was specifically that caused it before.  Maybe it was sugar.

Have you listened to "The Radio Doctors Show, part 2" (47 min) on the Media Center page. If not you may want to, since Dr. D answers a women calling in about her type O husband having psoriasis. This is the at the end of the recording (last 15-20% or so) and I believe it was the last caller on the radio show.

I'm type B and have learned that chicken gives me excruciatingly painful stiffness (arthritic pain?) in my joints and especally lower back and hips.  I now avoid it like the plague unless I am at a function and there is no other alternative served.  I try to stay away from most bread/muffin products as I get very bloated, constipated and lethargic.  Pasta products bring on bloating & pain in my legs & arms - however - ravioli filled with cheese, or spinch & cheese, does not ?!  So, I will occasionally eat ravioli if I have a craving for pasta but I make sure I stay away from any tomato products and stick with either mushroom sauce - or, simple melted butter & herbs poured over the pasta.  I am finding now that I am eating mostly beneficial & neutral choices that I do not tolerate rice or potatoes as well as I used to and am lessening them as well...they are beginning to act up on me the way flour products do.

CR4YT has thirty day meal samples for each blood group.  You may wish to use this as a foundation for ideas and brainstorming to create shared O/A meals.  

Many beneficial and neutral vegetables are shared by blood groups O and A.  A big fresh salad and a vegetable(s) side can be a main component of your lunch and dinner meals.  Separate meat and/or fish dishes and starch and grain dishes can be made for both groups to share or eat individually family style.

I avoid it like the plague even when it is the only meat item served...  I just can't do chicken (or corn).

I have found that while I'm doing detoxing, the body wants very little starches and lots of good protein and vegetables - fresh and cooked.
