I'm feeling particularly clueless this morning. I found ghee in the supermarket. What do I do with it? Any suggestions?

It is fantastic to fry in- give you the buttery flavour- and can be used at high heating .
I use y homemade ghee in cakes as well- but only use 80 % of the weight comapired to butter- it is pure fat - and add a little liquid instead .
Add on boiled/steamed veggies- that way you can absorbe vitamin A better.

Some hardcore gheelovers use it on bread but I find that too strange.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was feeling a bit silly having bought a fairly expensive product but not having any clue how to use it!

In India ghee is used as a medicine, sometimes herbal infusions are added to it and its believed it transports it better to the cells,it is also used as a lip and skin moisturizer and even on the hair (ewww i wouldnt try it on my hair! lol) in Indian villages a folk remedy for dryness in the body is to put ghee into your navel and sleep with it.Its supposed to be absorbed into your system.

Ghee is good for high heat cooking as it wont burn, its lactose and casein free as well since all the milk solids are removed in the ghee making proccess.

I forgot a place that I use ghee:
I always add it to gravies etc made with rice milk- that way they taste more milk/cream like.

So does the ghee have to be taken on an empty stomach to get the full GI benefits?
