I've known about ER4YBT for quite some time (followed it for awhile, then got lazy). I recently started again, and I seem to be having issues with bloating (yes I'm eating pineapple and drinking green and ginger teas).
I went from barely eating and drinking lots of coffee to forcing myself 3 meals a day, and as I result I gained some weight. I'm sure there needs to be a reasonable amount of time for my body to adjust...but this bloating is killing me!
Not only have I not lost any weight, but I'm often bloated and have trouble going to the bathroom (BMs). I completely cut out wheat, and only eat a bit of rice about once a week. I'm just eating salad, fruit, some dairy, eggs, and yams. I probably only consume meat about 2-3 times a week..and keep the portion small.

Hello fellow B Sorry top hear that 're having such a hard time Anytime u shock ur system it will RE-act ... going from fasting practically to eating 3 meals a day is quite a change !!
Yes, indeed ur body definately needs time to adjust; however, in the long run u will be much better off if u stick with BTD ... I drink teas almost on a daily basis and alternate between: Fennel, Rooibos, Dandelion, Camomille, Licorice/green tea, Green tea and Ginkgo ginger, they all seem to help with bloating and especially BM'S as well ... Oh and barley tea is also excellent for mucus, tightens and tones the intestines and is great for inflammation
U also need to up ur fiber intake; however, in doing so u "must" drink AT LEAST 8 glasses of water a day or it won't help with BM'S and most likely make things worst altogether
I wish u all the best and if I think of something else I will most definately post again !!
In the meantime, perhaps u can start to read this VERY helpful thread; full of wisdom ... IMHO, worthwhile to read ... knowledge is POWER !! ... especially when it comes to our health
Would it be ok to substitute the bread for a fiber supplement, with special attention to my water intake? I'm not really that into bread and live alone, so a loaf ends up going moldy before I've even eaten a 1/3. I suppose a little more rice wouldnt hurt either.

Also, I find it somewhat difficult to stick to only beneficial foods (for health and weight loss). I live in a studio with just a small fridge, toaster oven and microwave. I shudder to think what fish would taste like if nuked. Any suggestions?
When I first got here, I also received so much support and still do, hence it's the least that I can do to give back

Of course just do NOT stop drinking ur 8 glasses per day No worries about bread !! Actually, since BTD, I haven't eaten any bread per say EXCEPT for manna bread; however, that's different altogether and delicious with a little raw honey or almond butter ...
I started to eat quite a bit of sweet potatoes and squash for fiber and LOTS of vegetables and fruits and I'm much better off and ALOT less constipated !!

LOTS of vegetables !! and in my case ALOT of spices: they really speed things up and help us to digest better !! ESPECIALLY; cayenne pepper, curry powder; I make my own compliant mix which consists of (ginger, tumeric, cardamom, cumin, coriander and cayenne) ... sometimes I also add paprika, cloves and nutmeg ... just to switch it up;)
I'm a grain eater; millet is " excellent" for us B'S and if u don't partake in lots of dairy, perhaps u can go for a little grain; quinoa is high in protein and has all 8 amino acids ... brown basmati rice is delicious ... then again for weight loss perhaps it would benefit for u to get ur secretor test done, I will have to do that as well, as soon as I can afford to Cheers
See, I had figured that eating all these vegetables would get me regular as well as healthy. I've found since starting that I'm more constipated than I ever was! I adore sweet potatoes and yams, so I eat those several times a week. I've also tried eating half a can of tuna (in water) mixed with a little curry powder and hardboiled eggs, with salad. I would think that cutting out all the heavy foods would help with digestion.
I'm going to start on that lemon/sea salt water trick, and see if that helps. I've also heard about lemon/cayenne pepper in water as a kind of detox. I dont see cayenne pepper listed at all, so how do I know if that's ok to consume?

What's the possibility of getting a little single electric hot plate/burner? Very inexpensive....like 10.00 US, That way, you could do some frying/sauteing. There are some baked fish recipes that are very good also, that you could probably do in a toaster oven.
Knowledge is power. SWAMI gives you the diet that will unlock the key to better health, and it's all based on your unique individuality.
I feel that you are not getting enough vegetable fiber in your diet. Sweet potatoes are fantastic and are a healthy carb for us B's, taking the place of a lot of grains, which many of us do not eat. But you need to steam, stir-fry, bake, roast. . . vegetables, in a great assortment. broccoli kale carrots red onions collard greens shitake musrooms (stir-fried in ghee) parsnips kohlrabi turnips zuchinni etc!!
Salads are great for fiber, but can be low in nutrients unless you are really careful about which veggies you use in them. It's the dark pigmented vegetables that contain the power, so stay away from iceburg lettuce. Many nutrients are contained in the cells of raw vegetables that just pass through us and out the other end. Unless we chew our food to a literal thin liquid (or liquify in a powerful food processer or blender), the vitamins and minerals are not accessible to our digestive processes. That's why it's generally needed to also eat cooked vegetables every day.
Please don't skimp on proteins. We need a hefty amount every day. Sufficient protein is not constipating unless you are not eating vegetables and fruits. I don't personally eat any bread and very little grain. It's just a filler from my perspective. If a person is extremely active, burning a lot of calories and using muscles a lot, then grains might be harmless, otherwise, it can be just something else that our bodies need to eliminate. The key is to pace the amount with your own honest evaluation of your body and lifestyle.

Don't scare yourself re: the taste of "nuked" dish, it's fine! Times being what they are, sometimes one doesn't even have access to a toaster oven. I know it's healthier (I can hear the rest of you yelling!) to cook with the toaster oven than the microwave, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do..... When I do nuke fish, I wrap it in wax paper with slices of lemon, ginger and butter, maybe salt and thyme, and do it on High for just a couple-three minutes, however long it needs to cook all the way thru. And tuck those thin ends under, coz they're gonna get overdone first. PS, welcome!

Another great article on fiber ... here's a VERY important passage :
What happens if people don't add fiber to their diet gradually?
If people start to drastically increase their fiber, normally what ends up happening is they either become incredibly constipated or, in some cases, feel like they just can't stop going to the bathroom; it's physically not comfortable.
I recommend that people figure out where they are currently in terms of fiber intake and very gradually increase their intake from there by up to 5 grams. If somebody's starting out with an intake of 10 grams of fiber a day, they could increase it to 15 grams and do that for the course of a week and then gradually increase it from there.
Five grams of fiber might be the equivalent of two pieces of fruit or two one-half cup servings of vegetables or the equivalent of two slices of a whole grain bread, like a 100 percent whole wheat bread or a half of a cup of a high-fiber cereal such as All-Bran. So it really doesn't require volumes of food to get 5 grams of fiber.
The other thing is that as people increase their fiber intake, it's also a good idea to drink a little bit more fluid, because that helps to prevent some of the constipation that can occur when people overload on soluble fiber.
People should also spread their fiber intake out over the course of the day. Every meal presents itself with an opportunity, from cereal to the bread choices at lunchtime to fruits and vegetables or soup at dinner. There's always a way to sneak in extra fiber.
P.S. Exclude the avoids that they recommend though ...

You might try using some magnesium citrate, as B's are usually short of it due to our efficient calcium uptake. It also gets things moving as they say. About cooking a hot plate and a crockpot would be handy.
